It is the purpose of the boys' physical education pro- gram in Santa Clara High to give the boys a full program of physical exercise. It is the belief of the coaching staff that a well rounded program will not only go far in the physical development of the individual student but will also be enjoyable in nature. In addition to the inter-school sports carried on in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, Santa Clara High in- cludes in its program many tests of skill and strength. The Illinois testing program consisting of five events has been given each month and the students are encouraged to im- prove their own record each month. In the spring a program of fifteen events in which all students compete is run off and the awards are made on Fathers and Sons Night. In every sport the boys are taught to be sportsmanlike, to play fair and clean, and to iight hard win or lose.
