F. f5wb -e X tk 1-M-we Semis Clara Church 323 E Street Oxnard, California June M, l959 My dear Seniors, The day you have waited for so long has now become a reality and we, your elders and teachers, understand your joy and satisfaction, we congratulate you with all our hearts on eaching this goal, because your high school diploma signifies a public acknowledgement that satisfactorily completed your secondary studies also signifies that you have now reached a form maturity that imparts personal responsibility. I do not mean to say that your education is now Whether you go on to college or find employment have many things to learn. ln fact, the person you have and it of complete. you will who stops learning at any time during his life, places himself in the unhappy position of relinguishing his intellect, one the greatest faculties given to him by God. of I do mean, however, that with due caution and with respect for the judgement of people with more experience, you will be expected to judge independently, to assume responsibilities of importance and to make your own way in life. Some are fearful of this independent position. In the case of young people the matter is often taken too lightly, particularly when we consider that the most important decisions, such as those of vocation, career and marriage, must necessarily fall during this period, Yet there should be no occasion for either alarm or immature judgement about these all-important matters, if you keep close to the things you have learned and the example you have received. Remember that you have responsibilities not only toward yourselves but also toward others, who are endowed with the same basic rights. Remember that you owe a great debt to your parents, who have been and now are and always will be your greatest well-wishers, Remember most of all that God is our common Father and that all things must be begun through Him and also through Him ended.
