Each individual person is walking a road: it leads through his hopes, his plans, his loves, and his dreams, and ties them all together to give his life a meaning and a purpose. As he travels this path, he sees only what surrounds him, and is not aware of the beauties of other ways than his own until he comes to some scenery that is common to both. At such a place, he can often catch a glimpse of the life of another traveler. and is sometimes greatly effected by this. It may fill him with joy and cause him to turn in a direction similar to that of the other person. or it may fill him with reyul- sion and cause him to turn as far away as possible. At Santa Barbara High School. over two thousand roads are compressed into a very small space. and many such intersections are inevitable. Be- cause of this. the directions in which we travel are subjected to radical changes. changes that will shape our life in later years and continue guiding us toward our separate destinations long after we have left SBHS. ..
