x fx X X News 451 A path of constant peace and restful solitude, Memory of life where turmoil never rose. Sometimes the air was bright, sometimes of shade, but seldom aught but light. On this Firm stretch of smooth, even, squared concrete, Trod the cramped, captive foot when the work of day was done. Wind hlew down in boisterous tempest on the earth, Raindrops threw themselves on the tanned soil, And when the sun burned fiercely down, this walk was no more than warm. But to this spot no harm or wrath could pene- trate, For the twisted, spreading trees held out till all did cease. As we passed this spot of dwindling life, We can only say, I remember that. l IFourj

TO GRADLIATING CLASS Glenn Frank once said, The men called 'educated' are those who have never stopped their pursuit of the flying goals of information and: insight. blou, the graduates of 1936, have reached one of the goals of your ambition, and with it you have come to know that learning is a life-time process. Your graduation gives you not only greater opportunity for further learn- ing and for doing things, but it gives you, also, greater responsibility in the task of advancing individual ideals and standards. May you secure in large measure the happi- ness and satisfaction which comes in doing your job well. This is the wish of the students and faculty members of the Santa Barbara High School. ig-514 lSix1 7? 1
