t A I Opera tions epartment I 1 g 'if LCDR VAN DOREN OPERATIONS OFFICER The Operations Department is responsible for the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of all operational and combat information as well as pro viding external communications using electronic and visual means. OC Division is responsible for providing the ship with a means of communications between ships, shore stations, and aircraft. This is accomplished by employing sophisticated communications systems utilizing radio transmitters and receivers, satellite and computers, as well as flaghoist, flashing light and samaphore. OE Division performs maintenance and calibration on all installed communications, radar, and navigational electronic eauipmen t. They also maintain the closed circuit tele vision system and the ship 's entertainment system. Ol Division operates the Combat information Center, manning the surface search radar and keeping the bridge informed of all surface and air contacts. They also maintain the Naval Warfare Publications library and maintain the ship 's operational publications. The Operations Department is the eyes, ears and voice of the ship. Through their efforts the ship is kept continuously informed of changing tactical and operational conditions. -ir D g? ', Q S.
