After the excitement of election week, with its campaign banners and poster, its slogans, and speeches, its cards and handbills, its elations and disappointments, school life settled back to normal. Heading school government for the second semester were Dave Kenmuir, Student Body President; Larry Steffens, Vice-President; and Sandy Sorensen, Secretary. During their term the Board of Control members were kept busy with the planning of all school assemblies. They sponsored the talent assembly, the election assembly, all pep assemblies, and the awards assembly. This was in addition to their regular job of supervising all student activities. One of their last official duties was to choose the coming year's pep squad. June saw the completion of jobs well done by these second semester student body officers. Winter Board oj Control The winter Board of Control started off the first semester under the capable direction of their officers: Gordon McClymont, President; Joe Langford, Vice-President; and Joan Wheat, Secretary. Members of the Board devoted much time and effort determining the rules of student government. Theirs is the responsibility of making decisions concerning the students at Saintland, with the advice of Mr. Farrar and Mr. Trawick. The first big job of the winter Board of Control was the planning of Color Day. Some of the events included wearing of the school colors and the crowning of the queen at the traditional Color Day assembly. Campus Cleanup Week, planned by the Board, resulted in a more attractive campus and community. Also, the Board took the initiative in proposing to the Board of Education that cement be put between the Cafeteria and the Hut. Another first for this Board was the spending of money for awards for the Santa Ana High School Band. They also helped to plan the Vocational Guidance Day under the supervision of Mr. Covington. This group of fine workers certainly set a good example for future Boards of Control. SECRETARY: Joan Wheat VICE-PRESIDENT: Joe Longford PRESIDENT: Gordon McClymont SECOND ROWi N. Boiler.
