1 REBELS GET BACK ON WINNING ROAD, CRUSH ALBERTVILLE 33-0 The Rebels proved they could come bock even after defeat and they did it in a big way by crushing the Albertville Aggies 33-0. They played an inspired football game as they won their 7th game. The defensive unit headed by Jeff Inman and Jimmy Peppers led the way for another outstanding perform- ance. REBELS WIN AGAIN, STOP JACK- SONVILLE 20-6 Once again the Rebels were forced to play in the rain and the mud but that did not stop the Rebels . . . Danny Kimble scored two touchdowns and ran for 100 yards in only 13 tries. Because of the bad playing conditions, the Reb- els couId not produce as many points as they could have otherwise. But still they slipped and slid to their 8th victory. LEFT: Bobby Browning is watching ond waiting be- cause it s left up to the defense now. REBELS DELIGHT HOMECOMING CROWD WITH 26-12 TRIUMPH OVER ANNISTON It was a great night for football, but only if you were from Rebel land. From the opening kick-off the Rebels dominated the football game. The first two times they got the ball they scored 14 points. All state halfback Danny Kimble along with strong assistance from Gary MacFarland paving the road for the Rebs' 6th victory in as many starts. ETOWAH SHOCKS SANSOM, SCORES 24-14 COMEBACK VIC- TORY The stage was set for the game of the year between the state's No. 1 and No. 2 place teams, Emma Sansom vs. Etowah, both teams un- defeated, untied through 6 games. The Rebels jumped off to a good start and went ahead 7-0. By half- time the Rebels were in control 14-7. When the 2nd half started so did Etowah. They played good football and the Rebels could not contain them. Etowah won the football game dealing the Rebels their first defeat. Although the Reb- els hod lost a battle they would not lose the war, they were winners, and there would be another day. FORGET PLAY-OFFS . . . REBELS-DEVILS TIE Before a capacity crowd the Rebels and the Devils played the long awaited rematch in the snow. Etowah was 9-0 . . . Sansom was 8-1. A Devil victory would assure them a state play-off berth. But the Rebels had other ideas. Etowah led 7-0 at halftime but before the game's end the Reb- els had scored to tie the game at 7-7. The tie did not satisfy the Rebels but it did accomplish what we set out to do. And so was the end of the 1969-70 football season. The best season the Rebels have had in some time. And now that it's over we can look back and be proud. Be proud of our team, be proud of our school, be proud of our pride. We can hold our heads high and remember forever the year of the REBEL! RIGHT: Fred Colvin shows os some of his fine tackling which he practices on a mem- ber of the Etowah football team BELOW: Defensive standouts Jimmy Peppers.
