Black Creek Rises . . . Tigers Drown; Rebels Win! Before a capacity crowd of over 11,000 the Emma Sansom REBELS come to the stadium with one thought in mind ... to defeat the Gadsden Tigers. And defeat they did! The purple and gold vested REBELS completely dom- inated the game and won a decisive victory over the Ti- gers . . . 14-6. The first score of the evening came in the first quarter when quarterback, Bobby Browning, raced into the end zone from the eight yard line. Easterwood's kick split the uprights and Sansom led 7-0 REBELS' second touchdown came in the second quar- ter when Larry Thompson caught a Browning pass and ran it all the way for the score. Again Easterwood’s point was good and the REBELS enjoyed a 14-0 halftime ad- vantage. Tigers attempted a last half comeback but an inspired effort by the entire defensive team preserved this victory for the REBS. Tight end, Kenneth Hoynie, plunging forward over Godsden defenders, goins needed yardage Outstanding REBEL quarterback, Bobby Browning, runs around the Gadsden defense for REBELS first touchdown. 24

LAST MINUTE FIELD GOAL RESULTS IN WIN OVER MINOR . . . 16-13 Pody Easterwood kicked a 32 yard field goal with only 10 seconds left to play to lift the Rebels to a 16-13 victory over a tough team from Minor. The game was close all the way and victory was not assured until the final seconds. ■The Rebels showed a great deal of pride and determination by coming back for this important win. EMMA SANSOM ROLLS TO 28-6 VIC- TORY OVER OXFORD Although a continous driving rain dampened the playing surface, it did not dampen the Rebel's spirit. They continued these winning ways in a bril- liant fashion by beating a strong Ox- ford team 28-6. Danny Kimble and Kenneth Haynie shared the scoring honors with two touchdowns apiece. (As a result of this Rebels were rated Number 1 in the state of Alabama.) RIGHT: Rebel kicker Pody Easterwood loosens up in pre-game warm-ups.
