DEDICATION MR. THOMAS BENNY DEAN Active is the word for Mr. Thomas Benny Dean whom the Annual Staff has chosen to honor by dedicating the TALISMAN for 1961 to him. Since becoming a member of the Board of Education of the Gadsden City Schools four years ago, he has worked untiringly to make Emma Sansom High School one of the best in the State. In spite of his busy schedule—he is team captain of United Givers, an active member and past State Commander of the V.F.W., a member of the Mental Health Board, the Cerebral Palsy Board, and a lieutenant on the staff of plant protection for Republic Steel—he always finds time to attend our school opening, our special assembly programs or just to drop by often to offer his help to faculty members. We of the Annual Staff take great pleasure in dedicating the 1961 TALISMAN to Mr. Dean as a token of our thanks for his support of and interest in our school. 6
