Text from Pages 1 - 208 of the 1958 volume:

I The measure of greatness of an institution of learning is found in its ultimate product . . . the stature of the men and women it nurtures ... and their contribution to the order, beauty, and sanity of their community.” THE ANNUAL STAFF PRESENTS THE 1958 ISSUE OF THE TALISMAN STAFF GAIL ENTREKIN ..................... Editor JOAN STRAWN.................Assistant Editor ANGELA AKIN.................Business Manager AULTA LEE CORBETT ................ Advisor EMMA SANSOM HIGH OUR SCHOOL Since the stature of our school is determined by the community which produces it, the Talisman staff has chosen as the theme for this book, Our School, A Product of Our Community and State.” By our choice we wish to pay tribute to some aspects of our com- munity which have made our school one of the finest in the state. We are proud of the high achievements of our school in sports, in scholarship, and in the production of fine citizens. It is our purpose, as the present students of ESHS, to carry on these high traditions and, like those who have gone before, to make our contribution to the order, beauty, and sanity of our community and state.” MISS VERA COSBY DEDICATION To One ... Whose long tenure as a teacher at Emma Sansom High School has molded the character of many students ... Whose complete devotion to the education of each student has caused many to graduate who otherwise might have failed . . . Whose instruction has not only been mental but moral and spiritual in the principles of fair play. To a lady who commands the respect and love of everyone with whom she comes in contact. To our own Miss Cosby we very proudly dedicate the 1958 Talisman.
