This program is not a club or a money-making organization. It is an opportunity for students to extend their learning beyond that offered by the regular school sessions. Our new opportunity is called S-T-A-R-S. This title originated from the program’s complete name—Sanger’s Talented And Resourceful Students. The program is taught by Mrs. Greta Miller. During just one day of these classes, the students are exposed to every field under the sun. They discuss regular school subjects, such as math and science, as well as other subjects, such as overcoming handicaps, sending a man to the moon, and different methods of learning. The students here, especially the Juniors and Seniors, are allowed to explore career opportunities in which they may be interested. The students see educational movies, read, and try their hands at many different things, like trying to draw with their feet like someone without arms would have to do. The greatest knowledge, however, is by being around the other students, talking about the latest scientific discovery, sharing new information, and talking about the latest basketball game. —TOM CONGER FRONT ROW: Jennifer Webb.
