'llhese were the freshmen. 'llhe school in their eyes was a place with untold horrors lurking at every corner. However, as all things change, Sanford High changed in the eyes of the freshmen. 'llhe halls were no longer torture chamhers hut hecame places for friendly chatter on the way to classes. lfreslnnan week was a hilarious one for all concerned. Boys appeared in girl's clothes, and girls in hoy's clothes. All wore large signs hearing essential information for the upper classmen. As the concluding feature of Freshman Vlleek, the Seniors honored them with a reception at which they and their parents were introduced to the faculty. The courses soon hecame easier as the freshmen settled down to the husiness of studying. liy the second ranking period, many freshman names appeared on the Honor Roll. 'llhe freshman class had a haskethall team under Coach Alvino, the first in many years. Fifteen hoys made up the squad, many of whom had played very little haskethall. A schedule of IS games was planned with such strong opponents as Deering, So. l'ortland, liennehnnk, 'l'hornton, Spaulding, and a few others, including the Sophomore team. After losing the first 3 games the Frosh won II out of the next I2 games, winning the last 8 games in a row. 'llhe freshmen helped wholeheartedly in every campaign of the year, doing their part to make each a success. lly their spirited participation in all school activities, they have shown that they really like Sanford High-and hy their achievements they have proved they were not so green after all! l'.Xl I
