ENE IDNSMJE S'l'llDEN'l' COUNCIL The Student Council of Sanford High School serves as a medium hetween the faculty and the student hody. Its purpose is to stimulate and develop a healthy school spirit, to provide a means for student participation in the school government, and to promote the general welfare of our school. 'llhis year the Student Council had charge of Freshman week. This activitv served to in- troduce the freshmen to the student hodv and to acquai cedures of the senior hrother. freshmen were festivities. ENE EUGENE Chr-:climate ---- 'l'he Sanford High ,School Chess Cluh, composed of twenty memhers, met every Monday and XYeclnesday morning during activities period under the direction of Mr, Schultz. ,lamal lYGareie served as eluh president. 'llhe clulfs activities comprised the playing of chess among the memhers and also one chess match with Kennehunk at Sanford High School, won hy Kenrehunk High School hy a score of 5-4. 'llhis was the first of a two-ont-of-three game series: the seeond mateh was scheduled to he played at liennehunk High School in March. The boys hoped to reverse their set-hack at that time a11d thus luring ahout a final match to determine the series winner.
