The group provided its own broadcasting and receiving equipment from among the membership. The group was ably assisted by Mr. Herbert Kamins. With many projects, demon- stratio-ns, speeches, and lectures, the club pursued its goal of cultivating an interest in future careers in the fields of science and engineering. Smith, C. Weiglg SECOND ROW: K. Tonnessen, and Faculty Staff Under the management of Mr. Robert Fite, the Calhoun Audio-Visual Squad completed its second successful year of service to the school. Its members were always on hand when needed, giving up study periods to operate the audio-visual educational equip- ment, such as projectors, record players, and tape recorders. The squad is the oldest service organiza- tion in the school. The P.A. squad kept score at the football games, basketball games, and wrestling matches and an- nounced all important information to the students in the bleachers. Under the direction of Mr. Le- berson, the Debate Club provided an outlet for the interest in cur- rent events. This club has debated many timely and thought-provok- ing themes. The officers of the club have attended a high-school debate at Hofstra, and the club has advanced greatly in the time- old science of debating. and Interests Calhoun High School maintains an active chapter of the Junior Classical League - a national organiza- tion forrned to make high school students aware of the culture of ancient Greece and Rome.
