Latham, T. Stone, of Both Sexes The thirty-four girls in the Lead- ers Gorps had a very active season. Special events included Sports' Night and P.F.A. demonstrations and two Date-with-Dad evenings. In ad- dition, the girls helped in gym classes assisting the teachers, giving cal- isthenics and refereeing games ac- cording to their code of leadership, character and service. The newly formed team, coached by Mr. Michael Lurel, wound up an im- pressive season with a ten and six record, placing them third in their league. Then, playing in the Nassau South Shore Athletic League competitions, the ,all-junior team lasted through the semi-final eliminations. An even better season was expected this year. By Officiating The Ofhcials Club is an organization of girls interested in refereeing and officiating at the girls' athletic events here at Calhoun and at various junior high schools in the district. They enforce the rules in volleyball, basketball, softball, and at other sporting events. These girls are well- trained, as they must be well qualified for their complex jobs. The Officials Club is mainly responsible for the exciting and smoothly played games.
