The yoimg daughter Betty Lou and her friend Bernadine Smith got the bright idea to selid a letter to Miss Vester Blayne, editor of the love-lorn column in the local ne spaper. They made the letter so pathetic that Miss Blayne came to advise Mrwx Maxwell what to do. After the program, the athletic awards were presented before the students were dismissed to follow devious paths. The Seniors and juniors left particularly happy because, as is the custom, following the Move-up day ceremony they depart to prepare for the annual junior-Senior Promenade, which is always preceded by a banquet, usually held at the Colden Yoke in Luthersburg. MCINTIRE Mr. Mclntire has been the coach at Sandy High for the last two years. In his first year he brought the Bn Championship back to Sandy. Without our coach our successful year would not have been. Through his tireless effort he has had a better than average season. Good luck, next year, Mr. Mclntire. OUR MANAGERS Marvin Kessler and Sheldon Spigelmyer Louie,' took over as assistant manager at the first of the year. He is a senior with a sense of humor. His jokes. around the shower room after a game were well laughed at. He was always pepping up the boys, handing tape, or passing out the uniforms. jlre lflzrdify My Skip,' has been our manager for the past two years and will be back next year to give out equipment at the beginning of the year. Itis not an easy job, but Skip makes it look easy. He not only handed out material, but packed it away with Louie's help. WILEY FITZPATRICK 6'3 Center, Toot is one of the tallest boys of the squad. He plays center on the first team varsity. He is known for his rebounding ability and fine shooting. Toot,, was the second highest scorer of the Bn League boys. He has been chosen for the last 3 consecu- tive times for the first team All Starsn. RONALD WILSON 5'11 , guard, Ralston'l-4 plays guard on the first team varsity. JACK CALVERT 5' 10 , Guard on offense and forward on defense. He is known for his de- fensive work and his fine ability to make long shots. Last year he was handicapped because of his size, but this year his height has added honor to the team. Since jack is only a junior he will be a great prospect for next years team. ROBERT WILSON 5' 81!2 , forward, Bob is one of the smallest boys on the squad this year. He plays forward on the first team varsity. He is known for his good sportsmanship on the floor. Although he didn't play much, he gave everything he had when he got into the game. He was outstanding on defensive work, and one handed push shots. LAMAR DAUGHERTY 5' 9 , guard, Doc is one of the five sophomores, who made Varsity this year. He played guard, and makes a good left hand shot. We think Doon will be good starting material next year. RONALD FRANO 5' 9 , guard, Ron,, another member of the sophomore Class starred for the Jay-Vees in the '49 season, and became a member of the varsity in the '50 season.
