Qgporfs The football team of 1954 began its season with practically a new team, The team lost some of its players by graduation last year, Although the boys didn't win any of the games, they en- joyed playing them very much, The team was coached by Mr, J, R, Reece. Donnie Priddy, Ray Corns and Taylor Bottoms served as co-captains, The 1954-55 boys' basketball team began its season with only one regular after being hit hard by graduation. The season began with a new team and a new coach, Mr, Williams. The team got off to a slow start winning only two out of six games before the Christmas holidays. Coach Williams says that the team is coming along fine and should develop into a team worth watching in the games yet to be played, Donnie Priddy and Keith Dodson are serving as co-captains for the team, Spring is the season devoted to baseball, We are looking forward to a big season this year. We were second-place winners in the county district last year. Mr, Frank Spencer is going to serve as coach, Sports Editor Russeil Martin .av

Seniors Marquita Robertson and Geneva Williams have ably filled these absent positions as guards. Under the guidance of the coach, Mr. Robert Reece, and co-captains, Winnie Gunter and Synthia Nelson, the team has scored a total of 265 points in the eight games that have been played, During the three victories and five defeats the team has experienced, they have demonstrated the quiet confidence and gay spirit the coach and faculty have inspired, Betty Jean Steele Sports Editor
