Class of '79 big, shrinks to 250 The large freshman class of ' 79 stagger- ed the imagination of Sandy High. Of the 330 who started, only 250 graduated after many moved away, some dropped out and some didn’t quite make the grade. During this year, Cindy Lakey, Delores Randall. Debbie Randall, Gwen Wallis and Peri Miller represented the senior class on the varsity football rally, providing the greatly appreciated support for the team, which included nine all-league honored seniors. Homecoming proved exciting and stimu- lated school spirit. Cindy Lakey was crown- ed queen and Becky Orcutt and Cathy Gil- berg served as princesses of the festivities. First place in the float competition caused senior enthusiasm to reach a peak which lasted throughout most of the year. In the first annual Sports Challenge, the class took first place by a narrow margin of five points over the sophomores. Seniors enthusiasm hit its second peak. The class graduated on May 24 with a multitude of people in attendance. The class colors were maroon and gray. We alone hold the colors to paint our rain- bow was the motto chosen by the class. Red roses were selecied as the class flower. Top right: Darrell Boring plays saxophone while directing the pep band at a basket- ball game. Right: Class officers are Tad Donovan, president; Tami Tallard, trea- surer; and Connie Tee, vice president, holding Leann Madison, secre- tary.
