CLASS HISTORY Filled with ambition and enthusiasm, we humbly entered the halls of Sandy Union High School in the fall of 1949 as freshmenk Mrs. Dona Holmes was selected to advise our class of one hundred and thirty-three. Her assistants were president, Monte Schnepp, vice president, Maridine Crone, secretary, Sally Stroup and treasurer, Ed Hopp. That year we staged our class picnic at Blue Lake Park. The year 1950 found us full-fledged sophomores under the leadership of president, Gordie Nilsen, vice president, Marilyn Markham, secretary, Pat Carlson and treasurer, Shirley Winbinger. Mrs. Pat Paluck was our advisor. Our main social event was the Sophomore Dance. Our class picnic was held at Jantzen Beach Park. Grown up considerably and confident that we ruled the world, we entered the upper halls as upper-classmen. Our leaders were president, Tony Carlson, vice president, Jack Anderson, secretary, Barbara Clark and treasurer, Maridine Crone. Under the guidance of Pop Rannow we held many successful social events. The junior class play Night of January 16, under the direction of Mr. Ralph Teters, was a smash production. On May 5, we held our Junior-Senior Prom which will be long remembered by those who attended. The theme was Springtime in Paris? We again held our class picnic at Blue Lake Park. At last the big year. High and mighty seniors! (We tried to tell Mr. Croston.) We chose to lead us through our last and most eventful year at Sandy, president, Wallie Telford; Vice president, Maureen O'Brien; secretary, Pat Carlson, and treasurer Kay Me Laughlin. Again under the expert guidance of Pop Rannow we held our Alumni Dance November 24. The senior class play Spooks? directed by Miss Joann Clapper was held December 5,6. On May 23, 1953, we will reach our destination and we will leave the halls of Sandy High to find our place in the world.
