Boys State Q32 L Jim Horth and Patty Zehr, members of the Spade Staff and Snow Scholarship recipients, attended the 20th Annual School Press Institute on August 6-18, 1978 at Syracuse University. Fifth-nine students from six states worked together to produce PICA, the SPI yearbook and LATE NIGHT EDITION, the SPI newspaper. They attended newspaper and yearbook classes and labs every day. Special entertainment provided for the students included a con- cert at Crouse College and a picnic at Green Lakes State Park The students received their diplomas at the graduation dinner held at the Hotel Syracuse. Shortly after the 1977-1978 school year . ended, Ricky Haynes joined other boys from all over New York State for a week of citizenship education and fun at Morris- ville College. XM The participants set up their own Model State government. Ricky became Commis- sioner of Parks and Recreation. IFS Z -f Under the direction of Mr. O'Neil the IFS began the year by sending one student, Mary Grant, to the country of Guadamala, and by receiving three students from three other countries. These three students are Diego DelGado Ambrosi from Cuenea Ecuador who is staying with the Hurd family, Jose Eduardo Martinez de la Vega Mansilla from Mexico city, Mexico who is staying with the McVean family, and Salvador de Lavado from Mexico who is stay- ing with the Grant family. JCL JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE The purpose of the Junior Clas- sical League is to provide Latin pupils with a more meaningful understanding of Ancient Greece and Rome and the clas- sical languages. Last summer, Mr. Wydysh, JCL advisor, attended the two-day National JCL Convention on June 27-29, 1978. The conven- tion was an enriching and en- joyable experience. FRENCH CLUB The French Club was organized to enable SCCS students of the French language to gain insight into French culture and cuisine. On May 12-14, 1978, members of the French Club visited Montreal, Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stagl, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Stagnitti, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Zieno were chaperones.
