Absent: Chris Walker, editor THE STUDENT COUNCIL The High School Student Council is the voice of the student body. The Council, which is elected every year, discusses student problems and makes recommenda- tions to the administration. It sponsors the Annual Homecoming Weekend, promotes the Book Fair and compiles the Student Handbook. THE COMET'S TALE THE COMET'S TALE, SCCS school news- paper, informs the student body about cur- rent school events and opinions, as well as providing light entertainment. Working on THE COMET' S TALE isa good source of training in journalism and jobs pertaining to newspaper production. Sev- eral former staff members who graduated from SCCS have gone on to 'major in jour nalism or have put their training to use by working on college publications.

JR.-SR. I978 BANQUET The 70th Annual Junior-Senior Banquet was held the evening of April 14, 1978, at BOCES in Mexico, New York. The theme was Pieces of April . Dick Reid was the Toastmaster. Jean Wheeler gave a Welcome to Seniors. Joe Hurd gave the Response to Juniors. Jeff Drake pre- sented a toast to Mr. Pierce: Kim Crast presented a toast to Mr. O'Sullivan, and Ernie Peter, a toast to Mr. Gilbert. Doreen Pizon then sang the theme, Pieces of April . Marvin Nemier gave the toast to the Senior Advisors, and Jacki Zahler, a toast to the Junior Ad- visors. Thenj various seniors read the class Will and Phrophesy. Lastly, Senior Class President Martha Miles presented the SPADE to Junior Class President Beth Hurd. Following the Banquet, Strom- becker-Light house played for the dance. SENIOR PRO Old days, good times I remember, sponsored by the graduating class of 1978, was held on Saturday, June 3, 1978 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the S.C.C.S. gym. The students who attended the Prom were entertained by a band from Syracuse and re- freshments were served. Tessie Russell and Russell Joss were crown- ed king and Queen. Their court included Anna Hesford, Martha Miles, Millie Rus- sell, Ernie Peter, Dick Reid, and Bill Sew- eryneuk. IFS Z -f Under the direction of Mr. O'Neil the IFS began the year by sending one student, Mary Grant, to the country of Guadamala, and by receiving three students from three other countries. These three students are Diego DelGado Ambrosi from Cuenea Ecuador who is staying with the Hurd family, Jose Eduardo Martinez de la Vega Mansilla from Mexico city, Mexico who is staying with the McVean family, and Salvador de Lavado from Mexico who is stay- ing with the Grant family. IFS Row 1: Mary Grant, Dana Atkins, Patty Belleville, Clare Clerkin Row 2: Beth Hurd, Fran Clerkin, Priscilla Chase, Mr. O'NeiI. Row 3: Jim Horth, Diego Delgado. JCL JUNIOR CLASSICAL LEAGUE The purpose of the Junior Clas- sical League is to provide Latin pupils with a more meaningful understanding of Ancient Greece and Rome and the clas- sical languages. Last summer, Mr. Wydysh, JCL advisor, attended the two-day National JCL Convention on June 27-29, 1978. The conven- tion was an enriching and en- joyable experience. Mr. Wydysh hopes that some of the Sandy Creek JCI members will attend the next convention on June 26-28, 1979. QL Row 1: Janet Gilbert, Gregg Harvey, Row 2: Todd Warner, Patty Zehr.
