It is our honor and pleasure to respectfully dedicate the 1979 SPA DE to Mrs. Betty Bond, and Mrs. Margaret Chase, two out- standing women educators at Sandy Creek Central School. Mrs. Chase began her teaching career twenty-three years ago, and has served the teaching profession with both the dignity and the dedication that can be matched by few others. She is an alumna of Sandy Creek Central School and a graduate of Houghton College. Her graduate studies were taken at both Syracuse University and SUCO. Before accepting a position at Sandy Creek Mrs. Chase taught in Cassadaga Valley and the Powerhouse District lnow APWJ. During her years here at SCC she has directed the senior play and has served as both class and yearbook advisor. It was under her guidance in 1952 that our SPADE yearbook was given its original name. This year Mrs. Chase was appointed chairperson of the Engl ish Department. S he is also a member of Teachers United Sandy Creek - NYSUTI AFT. It has always been noted that Mrs. Chase creates a special at- mosphere in her room which is comfortable both academically and domestically. She has often been remem- bered by students because of her unique bulletin boards holiday decorations and lovely plants which help make classes a pleasurable experience Outside of her professional responsibilities Mrs. Chase enjoys crochet- ing and sewing She is an enthusiastic reader and during the spring and summer months an avid gardener and horticulturist. She is an energetic and participating member of the Sandy Creek Wesleyan Church and its Women's Missionary of which she is a past president. Mrs Bond's educational background includes three degrees two are Masters of Science In 1964 and 1969 she graduated from S UCO earning a B S and M S in Education In 1972 upon a year's sabbatical leave funded by a National Science Grant she was awarded a MS in Sociology from IIT in Chicago Mrs Bond has always taught at S CC S beginning her career in 1964 In 1966 she attended a summer Geography Institute at Syracuse University and in 1967 she continued graduate work therein Asian Studies As part of this program, Mrs Bond visited India and Nepal and has since served as a resource person showing slides and ment stillservinginthatcapacity Mrs Bondisaffillated with Teachers United Sandy Creek NYSUTIAFT She also maintains membership in Kappa Delta Pi The National Education Honor ary and Ps Gamma Mu The National Social Studies Honary Apart from her professional life Mrs Bond is an avid reader and enjoys knitting and crocheting She is an active member of St James Episcopal Church where she serves as a Lay Reader for the congregation and also a participant in the Charismatic Prayer Group in Pulaski During her free summer months she enjoys swimming and traveling with her husband Dick artifacts in local Social Studies 9 classes.
