CLASS OF 1966 The September of 1962 brought 95 enthusiastic freshmen to Sandwich High School. We did not realize the work and fun that was in store for us. Our first job was collecting boxes for the Pow-Wow. Bob Pruski, dressed as an Indian, lit the enormous pile of boxes to make the Pow-Wow a great success. In addition to this everyone eagerly worked on our Homecoming float, ’'We'll Bear Down On Them , which to our disappointment took fourth place. We started out our Sophomore year by taking a third place with our Homecoming float, We Shall Proceed With Vig-ah . Later in the fall we sponsored a sock-hop and then had a car wash before the Prom. The highlight of the year was the ordering of our class rings. The style was slightly different from preceding years and we were proud of them. Our Junior year seemed to go all too quickly. Our first project was the Homecoming float. With high hopes and hard work we strove to make our creation, She Stoops To Conquer , the most unique float ever. However, to our disappointment it only took third place. The Junior Class play, Hillbilly Wedding , was produced with a great amount of hard work. It was a great success and furnished the necessary funds for our next major activity, the Junior Carnival. It furnished fun and excitement for all who attended. After the Variety Show the romantic setting of a tropical island with palm trees and a treasure chest established the mood for an enjoyable evening of dancing and carried out the theme, Treasure Island. May brought spring and to S.H.S. the Junior-Senior Prom. All This and Heaven, Too brought not only an elegant evening to all but also angel hair from heaven! At the end of the year the coaches gave a round of thanks to our boys who helped bring the football and track championships to Sandwich. Our final cycle in high school brought us to our Senior year. Once again we strove to make our Homecoming float, The Unsinkable Sandwich Indians , a great success, but we again only took third place. At Christmas time we all awaited the arrival of our Senior pictures. The ordering of graduation announcements brought still more excitement. The Juniors showed all of us southern hospitality with their Prom, Southern Fantasy . Afterwards we enjoyed the lively Post Prom Party with Bob Hale and the disc jockey. Soon we found the end of the year coming to a close. Senior Class Day was filled with many memories and we then realized that leaving S.H.S. would bring many tears. Baccalaureate was held May 23 and Graduation was on June 3. We set a new style for graduates--the boys wore blue gowns and the girls wore white gowns. Our days of high school were finished but we had many lasting memories to take with us. Senior Class Officers: FRONT ROW: Ron Hutter, President; Donna Kerr, Secretary; SECOND ROW: Chuck Miller, Vice-President; Nancy Shook, Treasurer. Senior Student Council Members: FRONT ROW: Susan Mall, DaVonna Greif, Connie Shumway, Joann Cord SECOND ROW: Chuck Miller, Mike Hill, Gary Schwickerath, Maryse Raselli.
