Varsity Club The Varsity Club is a newly formed organization consisting of thirty members all of which are Varsity athletes. The club members have been striving hard to raise enough money to purchase a whirlpool with such money making projects are sweatshirt sales, candy sales, car washes, and the selling of members as slaves for a day. Officers: Laura Hough, secretary; Rich Koempel, Vice President; Barb Bannister, President; Lorna Anderson, Treasurer. Spanish Club Spanish Club was formed this year by students of Spanish I. Even though it was a brand-new club, it entered a float in the Homecoming Parade and won first place. Their meetings are held periodically. Some of their activities were sponsoring a sock hop after a football game and enjoying several parties. They hope to end the year with a trip to Chicago. The President is Barb Bannister, Vice President is Rich Koempel. Secretary is Laura Hough, and Treasurer is Lorna Anderson. Sandscript The Sandscript staff has the responsibility of getting Sandwich High School news into the paper every week, as well as writing its own school newspaper, published at different intervals. Throughout the year it is not uncommon to see its members confronting students with questions like: What would you do with or handing out questionaires about different subjects of interest. In the spring two members attended a workshop at Northern Illinois University, to get new ideas, and exchange ideas with other staff members, about their own school papers. The advisor of the group is Mrs. Blowers. Mrs. Blowers and Gail Ammons review a story as Bette Dinsmoor looks on.
