ASWI llllWll W As a plane ascends into the heights of the blue unknown, its passengers look down on what they are leaving behind them. The pur- pose of this 1950 REFLECTOR is to give a backward glimpse into the past school year. The Senior Class is ascending in its plane called Graduation into the heights of life and for them it is taking one last, long look into something that they will never find the same again, What do the passengers see when they look back? What is a year of high school? It is-the excitement of a football game -the thrill of winning the conference-gos- sip about Saturday night's date--candlelight at the Christmas concert-rushing to get dressed in three minutes in girls' P.E.-hot dogs after the Freshman Hayride-Miss Wei- bel explaining Emerson's essays-working on the Homecoming floats-neutralizing H2504 with NH4OH-mohawks-the tears of the Sen- ior glrls at the prom-the quiet, calm atmos- phere of Mr, Davis' room-running the BEN- DIX-getting on the honor roll-Miss Greer correcting conjugations-suspensell the last game of the tournament--strains of All the Things You Are floating into study hall- debating East Aurora -constructing perpen- diculars-the Awful Waiting' before a judge's decision-candy sales-crowning of the May Queen and King--Little Ten track meet-dig- nity of the Seniors as they march to Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. When students of STHS close this book, they close a chapter in their lives, They have new horizons ahead of them filled with prom- ise of progress. Because they have a sound foundation, they look ahead into the depths of the blue unknown with hope, faith, and courage, certain that their flight through life will in some, small way benefit mankind.
