The ocean however, has stayed the same through those years. Like so many sailboats on this ocean, the individuals of the Class of 1981 will depart and separate from one another as each pursues the adventure of his or her life. Although the sailboats and their destinations may change with time, the ocean remains constant, eternal. It forms the horizons that the Class of 1981 reaches for as it leaves Sandwich High and begins to make its impression on the world. It is therefore fitting that the image of sailboats on the ocean constitutes the theme of the 1981 edition of I.anc- n. Sandwich, Massachu.setts I I’m sailing away Set an open course for the virgin sea For I’ve got to be free Free to face the life that’s ahead of me . . . We’ll search for tomorrow on every shore And I’ll try, oh Lord, I’ll try to carry on. 2 I L NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN” n WE REMEMBER THE CLASS OF 1980 Eric Alejandro U-Mass Bernard Ambroseno Bentley College James Anderson Northeastetn University Lynn Austin cccc Micheal Avery Marines Dana Barrette West Point Caroline Bilodeau work Jennifer Bor|eson U-Mass Cindy Brower work Stephen Buckland CCCC Sally Byrne Upper Capie Cod Voc Tech David Campbell work Susan Choate CCCC Holly Closson cccc James Cole Bentley College David Collins work Thomas Cook Up with People Co. Friday night there was a Pep Rally and bonfire to cheer on the sports teams. Although the Varsity girls Field Hockey and the Varsity boys Soccer games were rained out, the parade went on as scheduled at 11:30 Saturday morning. The 1980 Homecoming theme was ’The Spirit of Sandwich” and the class of 1982 took first place in the float competition with their portrayal of the Doll Museum. Saturday night students attended the Homecoming semi -formal dance in the high school cafeteria. Senior Sue Milroy was crowned the 1980 Homecoming queen. Seniors Elise Martin and Sara Colton, Juniors Joya Columbo and Tracey Harmon, and Sophmores Maureen O’Daly and Debbie LeFave made up the queen’s court. Saturday’s rained out games were made up on the following Monday, October 27. Both the boys team and the girls team defeated their opponents. Colombo, S. Freitas, C. Pavalas, M. Kudera. The 1980 Sandwich Blue Knights Field Hockey Team, with a 13-1-0 record, received the Cape and Islands Championship Title this season. The team controlled two key games against rival Harwich to give them the championship. Six members of the team were honored by being selected members of the Cape and Islands All-Star Team. They were: Mary Broussard, Jody McGrath, Cassie Santos, Virginia Gaffney, Karen Gagnon and Eleanor Gaffney. The girls entered the State Tournament seated 3rd in their division. Their first game was successful with a 4-0 victory over West Bridgewater. In the 2nd round of the tournament the team was matched up with Dennis- Yarmouth.
