There are places I remember all my life, though some have changed, some forever not for better, some have gone and some remain. All these places had their moments with lovers and friends I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living. In my life I’ve loved them all. 4

The invaluable experience we gained from “lining up” everytime we left the room just might come in handy some day. Who knows when we might have to single file our way out of somewhere? As first graders the time from spelling to recess seemed an eternity to us and twelve years was totally incomprehensible. But those twelve years have gone by and now we’ll leave Sandwich High School slightly less bewildered than when we came. Of the students who filled our first grade rooms, twenty six remain to graduate, in single file of course. 3

The Class of 1978 is the third class to graduate from the new Sandwich High School. Although we are proud of our new facility, the special personality of the Henry T. Wing School, its unheated classrooms that gradually warmed as the class progressed, its cafeteria that also served as an auditorium, and its main stairways always chaotic, remains forever in our memory. The Henry T. Wing School has been vacant since our departure in February of 1976, when our enthusiasm, energy, and pride were transferred to our new Sandwich High School. Soon classrooms here became full and warm, students took advantage of the remarkable facilities, and new stairways became crowded. This class has played a significant role in creating a new personality for Sandwich High School. Our contributions, however, are only a beginning. The personality of Sandwich High School, like the Class of 1978, will grow, mature, and change as time passes. 5
