flew Jhhalorg L ,,.e- Gb All the worlds a stage And all the men and women merely players Shakespeare Acl Thats lust what this is folks A play extrava ganza entitled the Halls of Ivy with a cast of two hundred and fifty You re invited to see the have the house lights dimmed please? September ah what a beautiful month S say the weather prophets but not some scared knock kneed gawky and most forlorn freshles seated in the auditorium Now dont forget to obey our school regulations and on and on droned the voice When would we start? Sud denly you heard a voice saymg Proceed to yo.:r first period class' You proceeded through the whole day at first with pounding heart and clam my hands and then with a feeling of triumph You really did live through the ordeal By the time the second Friday rolled around you were all hepped up and you had a certain sense of belonging You cheered like mad for your team Big as life on the scoreboard AKRON WEST 6 SANDUSKY T9 Snow ram seet or shine nothing could keep you from the Pigskin Parade Rustllng taf feta bow ties and white shirts King Tom McGory and Queen Peg Whetstone added the charm to it all To top it off a sophomore asked you to dance' Everyone turned out to see The Patsy 30 play given by the Dramatics Club and starring Charles Donner and Shirley Baxter. More dances followed with the Basketball Bounce and the Blarney Ball given by the Student Council and the Junior Class respectively Many of our fellow classmates were kept busy rehearsing for the Student Talent Show which consisted of twenty acts It is now the middle of May One can tell be cause theres signs of bees and A Little Honey Mary Lou Kopp and Herb Drake had the leading roles in this play which was presented by the Class of 50 The SH S swimmers had a 50 50 tank season Why It seems as though we re lust gettmg started and our Freshman year is over Time real ly zooms by when you re having a good time Ac ll The curtam opens as we the proud upper lower classmen of S H S strut to our newly as signed homerooms Just think well be living in these rooms for three whole years' At long last an auditorium meeting with all the proud Sophs gettmg a seat this is really a promotion Theres Tom Stockdale the Student Council s new prexy In spite of Latin ll and world history we bat tered the storm and came through to cheer the Streaks on to victory over the Fremont Little Giants 29 7 The well attended bonfire pep rally put us all in the proper spirit Everyone was happy to hear that Jim Holz miller Ted Schwanger Dick Coker and even our own Jude Theibert were given All Ohio ratings These boys along with the rest of the team piled up a seven one one record A weekly Saturday morning radio program was initiated thus year The program consisted of a school reporter a featured guest a disc lockey session and music by the Mello Chords Mid November and Thanksgiving have final ly arrived The day before our vacation com menced was really a treat for the Dramatics Club presented the blood curdlmg play entltled X Marks the Spot Come on team raise that score Yes the basketball season is here at last Lets back up those reserves for they re the boys of 53' Home work tests Christmas shopping dances and the annual Christmas concert given by the A Cappel la Choir Strains from Softly One Evening com posed by Barbara Grulich can still be heard float ing over the auditorium With the holidays draw ing mgh we Sophs are anxiously awaiting the return to S H S The Senior Class presented the play The Night of January l6th It was unusual because people from the audience were on the lury and 1 - ll - ll --w?
