The president thanks him and adjourns the meeting. The members are on their feet in a jiffy, pulling on coats, and putting fin- ishing touches on their lips And so ends another meeting of the Commer cial Club Remember Orchestra concerts and all the members tramping noisily through Room 100 A play by Com mercial students A talk by a perfect secretary Our blonde president Dis cussions about the Youth Center DINGHY Monday afternoon 6th period the serenity of room 322 is turned into a turmoil of busy chattering individuals whose conversation steadily increases in momentum as the clock ticks on This is the Dinghy in the making To the mass of its subscribers the name means simply a paper to be picked up in the home rooms every second Fri day but to these twelve staff members 1t 1S a never ending cause for work and worry A shout across the room from one of the editors sends a loafing re porter scurrying to the mimeograph room to bring back typed copy while in a far corner of the room several members of the feature staff are vainly trying to decide upon the teacher of the week while lending an ear to the loud debate being carried on by the editorial department in futile attempt to choose the editorial topic for the week A continuous exchange of frenzied quiet down threats has little effect upon the self centered depart ments each interested in its own wel fare and all striving to meet the copy deadlines in desperate last minute prints Gradually the room settles down somewhat but the hasty en trances and departures the shouting and discussion and Mr Pysons tune ful reminder Today is Tuesday to morrow is Wednesday and next day s Thursday seem a necessary part of publishing the Dinghy The days la bors end abruptly as the dismissal bell rings A few minutes later Room 322 is restored to calm with only a scatter ing of clippings and scrawled copy to remind the casual passerby that this is the domicile of the Dinghy. Thursday is the positive deadline for all copy and a good percentage of the Dinghy IS written on that day as the shades of dusk enclosed our Alma Ma ter Finally when the court house clock tolls the hour of six a tired but satisfied editor and several equally exhausted staff members end their la bors for another week Yes tomorrow the Dinghy will be distributed to our students but the worry and pathos de creed by cruel fate for a dozen staff members and their energetic consci entious advisor IS never known nor appreciated This year s Dinghy staff adopted several changes in format which im proved its appearance and under Mr Pyson s capable direction the news and feature coverage was broadened The first revisions occurred shortly before the end of the first semester when the Dinghy appeared with even columns and more art1st1c story headings Since that time the Dinghy has continued to improve and increase in student popularity Marty Everds deserves the plaudits of her fellow students and staff for her splendid contributions to the Dinghys art department Manag mg editors of this year s Dinghy were Lewis Marquart and Bill l-legner larva- V 1944 . . .
