They certalnly gave our class the run around these last four years As freshres we were lost rn that huge assembly for one semester Then just when we were begrnnrng to feel at home there we were dlvrded rnto two home rooms half gorng up to 305 wlth Mr Glenwrrght and half down to Room 4 wrth Mr Flemlng For tvro years 1n Room 4 and two and a half years rn Room 305 we stayed put Thrs was our longest stay rn the same rooms dunng the entlre four years As Semor B s we began to feel more 1m portant and vrtal to the school even though we were st1ll rn two separate homerooms d1v1ded between Mr Wers and Mr Ballard However rt was a pleasant semester and no serrous cases of Semorrtrs caused any trouble To rnflate our ego further we were thrllled wrth the knowledge that we were the last mrd year class to sponsor a Senror Re ceptlon so we determ1ned to make rt a superb success And rt was Thus 1t was w1th a feellng of self satls fact1on that our small class of forty f1ve greeted the summer vacatlon The boom was on and nearly all of us had Jobs clerkrng 1n grocery and drug stores newspaper lobs garage work as telephone operators and several of us worked rn defense pro1ects Most of us kept nght on workmg 1D the fall after school and on the week ends We were glad to be l1v1ng rn such good tlmes But war was Just around the corner and to us the entrance of the Umted States 1D World War ll wrll always be the most memorable event of our Senlor Year But there was strll a place ln a war exclted world for a Senror year of good tlrnes whrch can be descrrbed only wlth superla trves For leadershlp rn these looked to our able class offrcers Nlck Vassallo better known as Feets was our Presldent Bud Vorgt 1n sp te of hrs rnterest 1n red heads d1d a good 1ob as vrce presrdent Wl'11lL. Ruth Wagner was our capable secretary and treasurer act1v1t1es W Other leaders of our class were Brll Cullen and Gwen Pollack who held offrces durlng the four years and lean MacGregor who was always headlng some commrttee We were so 1nvolved ln plans for our class play that before we could realrze It lt was the nrght of Ianuary 21 the Senlor Re ceptron rn our honor-and 1t was perfect We had hardly caught up on our sleep Revolt vas upon us Some of the leadlng characters were Nelda Mart1n Dons Platte Don Renwand and Owen Pollack As the curtarn fell we were suddenly brought to the real1zat1on that our hrgh school careers were at a close V1ncent Stever was the flrst rn our class to Jorn the armed forces leavrng on February 2 We realrzed for the frrst tlme that th1s was war And so It was that a more senous group of senlors than ever before sard goodbye to dear old Alma Mater gn WCS 5 ul ' i 4 Bud Volgt xck Vassallo Ruth Wagner j .-S' ' .
