Johnson The main purpose of the student council is to help the school in any projects it undertakes, and to consider suggestions of the student body. Raising money by means of magazine sales, to pay for an outside scoreboard, has been one of the student council's biggest proiects in the last two years. They have also sponsored many of our assemblies. This year they sold fruit cakes and sweat shirt iackets. They also cooperated in a nation-wide clothing drive for Hungarian refugees. The organization is a member of the Thumb B Student Council. In cooperation with the other council members they sponsored talent shows, sending acts to various other schools. Sponsored by LEONARD J. They check material in and out, arrange books alphabetically, take care of fines, do filing and some typing. They help Mrs. Teets in many ways, while they are acquiring good work habits. With the help of her staff Mrs. Teets is able to take care of the great numbers of students who use their school library. OFFICE GIRLS rev. t Thelma Hooflanl The office girls are a very important part of Mr. Myas' office. Some of the duties they perform are: helping get the day started, delivering morning attendance reports to the teach- ers, taking care of students who come in for excuses, collecting attendance slips every period, delivering the mail, running errands, finding students, de- livering messages, and main- taining the office while Mr. Myas and Thelma Woodard are out to lunch.

The object of this chapter shall be to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stim- ulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the de- velopment of character in students of S.H.S. Students receive membership cards and are eligible For a national scholarship. At graduation they receive seals on their diplomas. For their project this year the Honor Society set up a social room, For the enioymerit of the students, and has furnished it with a jukebox and furniture which was donated by four interested Families.
