The month of September was dotted with a multitude of activities for SHS students. Among these activities were numerous pep assemblies, football and volleyball games, and a new set of activities for Hello Day. These new activities included a class name tag competition and a club door decorating contest. All in all, September started the year off busily. We should have stuff like this more often ' was a repetitive comment heard from many a student as the traditional Football Festival was expanded to a full week of noon-time fun and entertainment for the entire student body. Different organizations sponsored activities each day during the mid- October celebration. Some of the noon hour fun included a crazy sock contest, a tricycle race, a frisbee throwing contest, a noon hour dance, and a hush day for the girls. In addition to the Festival activities, the month of October was highlighted by College Day presentations for seniors. The playing of STAR WARS at the local theater also kept the science fiction buffs and fantasy lovers happy. mm Besides the many noon hour activities organized just for Football '77, the week was highlighted by a finale rich in SHS tradition. There was the expanded pep assembly. Pep Club's guardian angels revealed themselves in less than subtle ways. The football match between Sandpoint and Lewiston saw a Bulldog victory. And during halftime festivities Queen Robin Rogers was a tearful recipient of her crown. Princesses included Diana Bush, Janice Mueller, Laurie Peters and Francie Rogers. And to top it all off, more than 400 students appeared in the gym for the Football Festival Dance. 24 Sandpoint! Where's that at? Believe it or not people from Meridian, Idaho, asked this question of the SHS volleyball team during the first day of competition at the Idaho State Tournament. But by the second day, they were well aware of the fact where Sandpoint was and that they were there to compete. The volleyball team was the first local volleyball team to bring home a trophy from state competition, let alone the first time the girls' volleyball team has gone to state. Besides the state trophy, Coach Jan Spring's girls received the Class A League Co-Championship and the District 1 Championship Awards. During the first day of competition, SHS quickly disposed of the teams from Madison High and Blackfoot High. That day they also suffered their first loss against Vallivue. Brooding on their initial loss, the girls came back the second day and defeated the favored Highland team from Pocatello, in two straight matches. The next game was with competition with Wood River of Sun Valley, in which they were defeated in two matches. This, however, did not affect the morale of the girls, they came back to again dispose of Highland. With thought of championship they once again faced their toughest opponent. Wood River of Sun Valley. Coach Spring said, The girls played the finest ball they have all season in their first match against Wood River and succeeded in beating them. However, the competition was equal between both teams, and Wood River went ahead in the last two matches. I was entirely pleased with Sandpoint's performance at State. 26 BOB' Games, prizes and just plain fun proved to be the major elements of the annual Leohono Carnival. Other activities in the month of November included presentations given by the Boy and Girl State delegates for the juniors. Presentation of the play THE MOUSETRAP, by the SHS Drama Department also provided entertainment for students and the public. Following the Thanksgiving vacation, SHS students were treated by a juggler with the National Assembly program. In another program science enthusiasts listened to a presentation by a representative from NASA. To wind up the month parents attended their students' classes at Back-to-School Night. 29 Merriment and jokes seemed to be the rule during December. With anticipation of the holiday season, the school days were enhanced by a few social activities including the appearance of Santa, alias Tom Keough. Home Ec. classes treated faculty members with cookies and punch at their open house. Moreover, Christmas melodies drew a favorable response and the Music Departments annual Christmas concert. Meanwhile, back at the parking lot, the scene was not so bright. Unknown individuals lodged a gentle protest against the absence of a grader in Chuckhole City ' The KSPT announcement There will be no school in Bonner County today ' made the long month of January more enjoyable for many a student. The winter storms not only meant lots of snow shoveling but also extra opportunities to recreate in the great North Idaho outdoors. 32 33 With the conditions outside being typical of the after winter-before spring drags, students at the high school found themselves with more indoor activities. Miss Pam Eimer's food service class kept an aromatic smell permeating the halls by baking cookies for a money making project. In addition, P.E. students learned about C.P.R.'s. As the snow turned ugly and the mud increased all minds impatiently awaited a far-off spring vacation. 34 inion- J Booklet describes scholarship help 'S-zz • . 9% Of Mfcoof Honor roll annoovtcod y 55Sr • Ski Sale • r [ North Country Bike 81 Ski I having a GIANT SALE starting Saturday. In 1977 the Sandpoint Bulldogs Basketball Team went to State for the first time in several years. Could such a feat be repeated? Take the ingredients of a fired up basketball team led by a determined coach, an enthusiastic band of supporters, trimmed with an abundance of color and an intense air. Yes they did. In the best of three series with Moscow, the Bulldogs came out on top and thus, insured the team and their followers a trip to the State tournament in Boise. 36 37 Our Foreign Exchangees Right: Chisato Takahashi, Japan Below Left: Marjorie Huaco, Peru Below Right: Louise Ahrsjo, Sweden 38 39 Tom Bjorkbom, Sweden Several seniors have accomplished more this year than just receive a diploma. For example: Bill Churchill won an award for good citizenship. Hildi Venishnick and Linda Palmen received the PSAT NMSWT merit awards for the high scores on the tests. In addition, Kathy Muckier was recipient of the Bausch and Lombe award for being the most outstanding science student and Jaye Pietsch won the Century III scholarship. The all state music delegates were not just seniors. They included Don Oakwright, Band; Liz Davis, Band; Dale Hohisel, Orchestra; Ann Ross, Band; Rhonda Bradetich, Band; Linda Palmen, Band; and Wendy Gould, Choir. With basketball games coming to a close, the month of March started with numerous new activities. The sale of pizza by the food service class was the first activitiy to take place in March. The Spanish and French classes also got into the swing of cooking by preparing and eating a multitude of foreign favorites. Meanwhile, more athletically inclined students at SHS began to get involved in the spring track and field sports. To wind up the month the drill team sponsored a variety show featuring the comedy and talents of numerous SHS students. 42 43 That's Entertainment? was the theme for the 1978 Variety Show. Sponsored by the Ponderettes Drill Team for the first time in four years, the show included unique dancing, several vocal numbers and many comedy skits. Funds from the show were to go to the drill team's tour fund. 44 45 48 Coaching Staff Athletic Director Cotton Barlow, head football coach Girls’ Athletics Jackie Bentz, volleyball; Bob Hamilton, basketball head coach; Dwight Smith, track coach; Terry Iverson, basketball, and Jan Spring, volleyball head coach and track. 50 Boys’ Athletics First Row: Al Alt, football and head track coach; Ray Miller, wrestling head coach; Bill Adams, basketball; Bill Gee, wrestling. It was really a great season ' commented Head-Coach Cotton Barlow when talking about the 1977 Bulldog Football Season. We had fine young men who liked to hit and with the support of the community, and the school we could of gone undefeated. That is if some of the team wouldn't have gotten injured ' the Silver Fox added. Even with some of the players sidelined, the Bulldog Varsity pulled off the best season record in recent history. According to Barlow, they came out with a lot of experienced players and walked away with a 6-2-1 record. After winning the first game against Bonners Ferry, the team lost the next two and came back to stomp St. Maries 33-0. Then the win over Kellogg set the stage for the thriller of the season a 27- 16 victory over Coeur d'Alene. Subsequently, the gridders won two games in the next three and tied one. It was very outstanding the way the boys thought they were going to do it and they did. Assistant Coach Al Jacobson commented, this season was very rewarding and well deserved. This combination proved to be the best that Sandpoint has seen in a volleyball season yet. The squad became the first team to participate in state competition and subsequently take a trophy as a runner-up. Their first game against Kellogg was the first victory in a succession of many. In fact the only team to defeat the girls during their regular season was Post Falls. This loss placed them as Class A-l co-champions, since Post Falls had also lost a league game. However, the loss to Post Falls did not discourage the players, for at the Region 1 District tournament, they came back in full force and defeated both third place Kellogg and first place Post Falls to triumphantly receive the Region 1 District Championship. At state tournament in Meridian, Idaho, they won four out of the seven matches they played. This included a victory over the highly favored team of Highland from Pocatello. The SHS volleyball team placed second in competition behind Wood River from Sun Valley. Their final win-loss record for the season was 15-5. The J.V.'s, under the guidance of Coach Jackie Bentz earned a win-loss record of 10-1. At the fall sports banquet, Lorrie and Debbie Dockins received the Most Valuable Player award, while Becky Marienau was named Honorary Captain. J.V. team members. First Row: Coach Bentz, P. However, that dream fell short when they were defeated by CDA in the best two out of three games. According to one teammate, Becky Marienau, the highlight of the season was beating Post Falls and being able to play Lewiston and Moscow for the first time. Despite the disappointment of not being able to go to state, the varsity concluded their season with a 17-16 win-loss record, the best season SHS girls basketball has had. Under the direction of Terry Iverson, the JV's went undefeated this year with a record of 20-0. Varsity squad: Z. Palmer, R. Fournier, J. McNall, K. Barfuss, J. Stern, P. Bennett, J. Woodland, P. In their only disappointment, the Bulldog wrestlers placed 13th in the Tri-State tournament at Coeur d'Alene. They came back however, to take a third place in the Regional Tournament. Those winning the Regional Tourney and participating at State are (bottom) Bob Newcomb, Randy Kluver, Amel Smith, David Beaty. Also going to state were runners-up Curtis Pitts, Mark Perry, and Tevis Hull. When asked about the team. Coach Miller replied, We had a few mistakes, but I think we had a fine year. 73 Girls’ Track Under the direction of coaches Dwight Smith and Jan Spring, members of the girls' track squad began a rigorous training schedule in early March. This not only entailed abundant exercising but also many miles of running. The girls began the season with a meet at East Valley. The coaches anticipated a successful season with so many experienced runners. Front Row: D. Grant, K. Farmin, P. Hawkins, R. Fournier, A. Kuehl, R. May, S. Allen, K. Barfuss. Back Row: J. MeNeely, T. It will be a fine year. This prediction came early in the track training season. Regional competition was held this yeai in Moscow at the University of Idaho followed by the State competition at Bois State. With 15 returning lettermen plus a lot of new faces, the team had plenty to look forward to. We will be going for several records, commented Alt, including the high jump and triple jump. Back Row: D. The 50 students participating in the program are under the direction of Coach Chris Lassen. The program is designed to carry athletes through from one sport to another, and to help them both physically and mentally. Of the ten sophomores who have hit the 200 mark, Brett Peterson led them with 240 lbs. In addition, junior Kelly Smith holds the bench press record with 290 lbs. Future plans include adding more equipment so that more students can be involved. First Row: M. Dutson, F. Gardner, B. Plaster, L. Harrison, D. Fournier, C. Pitts, M. Crawford, A. Abromeit. The achievements of the various teams could not overshadow, however, many other events. For example, Athletic Director Cotton Barlow and his wife Johnny enjoyed a trip to the 1978 Rose Bowl. This was a surprise to Cotton, and the trip was funded by the Bulldog Bench. Working many hours for the different teams were statisticians Ray Holt, Eva Whitehead and Bob Hamilton. Hamilton was also the Voice of Bulldog basketball games. Midway through the athletic year, a greyhound bus arrived in Sandpoint. After being painted and carpeted, this vehicle provided the Bulldogs a ride in style to their athletic contests. 79 The purpose of Art Club is generally stated in their constitution: We the members of the so formed Sandpoint High Art Club have made it our goal and purpose to further the appreciation of the fine arts in this high school and our community, during the holiday seasons and to extend our talents for the benefit of other organizational functions. Besides their usual pre-Christmas window painting the club produced and sold Class pennants. They also worked on silk-screening Class t-shirts, according to Mr. Leroy Anderson, adviser. Below: L. Homecoming week in particular found members, with the help of class officers, Dan Miller, president; Penny Barfuss, vice-president; and Debbie Johnson, secretary- treasurer, sponsoring a tricycle race on the school track. In addition, several individuals decorated and transported the royalty stand for the crowning of the queen. The Annual Booster Club Radiothon was the only money-making project planned during the year. It was expected to boost the organization treasury by as much as $1000,” said Dan Miller, president. Parties were the highlights of the club year. These included a summer party, a Halloween and a Christmas party which were held at the home of adviser, Mrs. Imogene Davis. Mrs. Davis added enjoyment as Santa Claus and as a Spook House attendant. In the spring the club took their annual trip to the Spokane Washington Water Power Building and had a banquet at the Flamingo Restaurant. Fun and a large attendance at the events helped to make the year even greater, according to Candy Kemp, president. Seated: R. Rogers, secretary; D. Johnson, treasurer; C. Kemp, president; D. Participating in the Football Festival door decorating contest, was their first activity of the United Foreign Language Club. Immediately following, they had a masquerade party for Halloween. Also, adding to the Christmas spirit, they sponsored a lunch with a menu of international desserts, in which each foreign language student told of their Christmas. And braving the cold of winter, the members sold foreign baked goods in front of Penney's in February. After such a successful project, they sold baked goods at SHS. They also planned to go ice skating at Riverfront Park and an international dinner in the spring 7 according to advisers Betsy Walker and Marian Whitfield. First Row: D. Therefore the Cedar Post room is no longer white but pale blue with a rainbow completely encircling it. Also, the doors that lead to the trophy cases are yellow, green, red, and purple, trimmed with black. This project was initiated in early fall. Painting was not the only project. The group also published 30 issues of the Cedar Post. Advised by Bob Hamilton and supervised by Ann Ross, editor, the staff members also sold athletic programs for football and basketball. In an additional effort to raise money, the Cedar Post sponsored a basketball game featuring the Harlem Clowns. The staff also attended a journalism conference in Sun Valley, bringing home a fourth place in editorial writing, won by Marcia Finney. However, the staff did not attend the annual spring conference in San Diego. I didn't feel the conference was worth going to, Mr. Hamilton said. First Row: T. Nordgaarden, M. Finney, C. Wooden, A. Led by head cheerleader, Diana Bush, the girls also sponsored various money-making projects. One was a bakesale to help send senior Amel Smith and 1977 graduate Kevin Thomas to wrestling nationals in Kentucky. In addition all three groups of cheerleaders were able to have new uniforms, purchased by athletic department. With practice held three times weekly, attendance rules became a major part of the cheerleader year. 92 Wrestling cheerleaders (opposite page): F. Rogers, N. Finney, L. Peters, M. Evans. The team included Steve Mundell, Brain Book, and Bob Wiley. Other Future Farmers activities included the annual Harvest Auction, a November Turkey Shoot and the annual FFA week teachers luncheon. Led by adviser Dale Heimgartner, individuals and teams won several awards throughout the year. The group's farm safety committee also set the wheels in motion for a Poison Prevention Center in Sandpoint. hf-rt uurovt i n i 94 First Row: J. Sater, sentinel; S. Schoonderwoerd, reporter; R. Leohono A very profitable Carnival kicked off the year for the Leohono Honor Society. This fund raising event which netted $300, was held in November to earn money for a scholarship to be given to an outstanding senior member. Carnival royalty included Mitzi Hawkins, senior, who was crowned Leohono Queen and Liz Davis, junior, and Susan Holm, sophomore, princesses. At semester new members, who had obtained a 3.2 grade point average or higher, were welcomed into the club. In addition, the senior members elected Barbara Tibbs and Mitzi Hawkins as their choices to compete for the National Honor Society Scholarship. The November production was an Agatha Christie favorite entitled THE MOUSETRAP. According to Ms. Whitfield, the set for this play was designed by Miss Florine Dooley, SHS English teacher. The many hours of preparation for the production were rewarded by responsive audiences and, of course, the cast party. The group also found themselves acting out the roles of demons and evil characters when they participated in the Halloween Haunted House. This project was coordinated by the March of Dimes. Ms. Whitfield reported that its success and popularity has paved the way for it to be an annual affair. First Row: A. Van Curen, G. Ramsay, B. Coon, J. Kibler. Second Row: B. Smith, M. Alton, S. Covering the activities of a student body numbering in excess of 800 meant some careful planning. This all began in the spring with tentative decisions on theme, style and colors. Then, under the leadership of MONTICOLA Editor Shelley Rocks, old and new staff members began the challenge of producing a 190-page 9x12 book. With the increased size page, layouts could enjoy more freedom. The editor was assisted by section editors Barbara Tibbs, Francie Rogers, Doug Brown, Saafe Smith, Tina Gustaveson, and Lisa Miller. Reed Musical Highlights Sandpoint's Music Department was continually in the news this year with the concerts, fund raisers, and numerous honors. Under the direction of Steve Cobourn, the band sponsored many new activities including a chili feed, the U of I Jazz Band Concert, Clinic, band can fund raising drive, and basketball concessions. The money making endeavors all aimed toward a spring tour to Salmon Arm, British Columbia, and the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Parade. Performing at both football and basketball games meant many long hours of rehearsal. Drum majors included Don Oakwright and Liz Davis and twirling the baton were Carolyn Greenwood, head twirler; and Cindy Medlin. In addition to their usual performances and concerts, many members took part in the solo and ensemble contest and the large group festival. All staters were Dale Hohisel, Don Oakwright, Rhonda Bradetich, Liz Davis, Linda Palmen, and Ann Ross. The music makers also provided a few noon hour jam sessions. 104 With Mrs. Marian Ruyle, conductor, the orchestra performed in the annual Christmas and Spring Concerts, and participated in the Spring Festival, held in Moscow during October. The choir, under the guidance of Mrs. Dona Meehan also provided their talents at concerts. In an effort to raise money, the group sought donations on turkeys and sponsored a pom pon sale. The singers planned to compete in the large group festival and the solo and ensemble contest. Sophomore Wendy Gould also had the distinction of being chosen to All State. 105 Pep Club The club is a mixture, said Miss Whitehead, adviser. “Some of the girls are willing to work for points and others aren't. Projects which can earn points include painting signs, selling tickets, and acting as guardian angels. In addition, the group collects tickets at games, serves at the annual athletic banquets, and'makes favors for activities such as Football Festival and the Senior Tea. Besides Miss Whitehead, Pep Club was also advised by Mrs. Cheryl Benjamin. First Row: V. Salfeld, C. Farmin, C. Oliver, T. McCormick, Junior Class Promoter, L. Davis; Z. Palmer, Vice President; T. In addition to attending a youth convention in Boise, the political enthusiasts also participated in a two- hour long panel discussion with Steve Symms, U.S. Congressman. The members pounded out their funds by selling hammers. Seated: T. Iverson, adviser, M. Hawkins, president; B. Coon, secretary. First Row: S. Smith, D. Teller, M. Driggs, L. Leonard, A. Ross, B. Thoughts of a trip to Salmon Arm, British Columbia, followed by Wenatchee's Apple Blossom Festival kept the girls' enthusiasm alive as they sought out local sponsors, helped the Lions Club in concessions and sponsored a Hush Day during Football Festival Week. In the performing department the girls presented halftime shows to tunes such as Nice and Nasty'', Born to Run , Funky Music , Here Comes the King , and Smoke on the Water . Captains Cindy Wooden and Jaye Pietsch were aided in their ideas by the enthusiasm of several junior members of the drill team. Members take part in such events as steer riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding at summer youth rodeos. With their adviser Bill Gee, the group sold hammers throughout the community to raise funds for their spring and summer activities. 112 113 Ski Club Delivering wood to such faraway places as Coeur d'Alene meant a busy, laborious fall for the members of Sandpoint High Ski Club. Most weekends throughout the autumn months involved gathering, chopping, and stacking cords of wood for the group's many customers. An additional project, the annual Hunters' Breakfast, meant some early rising to cook pancakes and eggs, for the pre-dawn affair. It also meant an early lump of money to put into the treasury. This all led toward the skiers' excursions to Red Mountain and to Mt. Spokane. First Row: D. Deshon, B. Dehlbom, C. Eaton, M. Evans, L. Martin, J. Parker, L. Ahrsjo. Second Row: D. Powers, R. The club sponsored a frisbee contest, a December dress-up dance, and the first Community Hall dance in years. In addition, many representatives had a chance to participate in goodwill when they helped sponsor the Rock n' Rollathon at Sandpoint Manor. To inspire with the Christmas spirit, the class also sold candy canes; and to show their school spirit, the Senior Class won the Hello Day name tag contest by having the most class members wearing tags. They were also awarded the spirit stick at the pep assemblies several times. The class officers were President Becky Marienau, Vice-President Linda Palmen and Mitzi Hawkins, secretary. Class members also participated in college day, where they met with representatives from different Idaho universities. We were taught the ways and words. The laws and customs, And, of course, we learned more than anyone ever before. As the year passed away and a new emerged, We began to see a bit or ourselves in our new students. We taught them our captured knowledge, And surprised them with some old tricks. When our last year dawned, we were ready, Rising above our environment we succeeded; We conquered the zenith of inner spirit. It was fun throughout that last year. Our final year in Sandpoint Senior High School. So, to our old friend, Our old Prophet, Our old enemy. Our place of maturation and finality, We say......... Good-bye Class of ’79 With the help of class advisers Glen Ford and Florine Dooley; the S.H.S. '79'ers kicked off the year with a busy and profitable fall term. Led by class officers Jane Travers, Garry Forell and Paula Palmen, two major money making projects, the annual Junior Class raffle and the November KJRB Dance, netted the group close to $900. According to Glen Ford adviser, the class goal was to have $1000 in their bank account by the end of the year. In addition, Juniors were tested on their academic abilities and general interests on Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and the Strong Campbell Interest Inventory. 162 Mick Adams Cheri Agar Ronald Anderson Jeff Baca Bill Bailey Tim Bailey Penny Barfuss Shareen Barry Jerry Beaty Larry Beebe Patti Bennett Steve Bergman Kim Bloom Ed Bonin Lori Book Patsy Bopp Angie Bork Meri Bostock Ryan Bouman Randy Bramblee Kirk Brattkus Mark Brazington Gayle Brisboy Marsy Brisboy Doug Brown Tom Burney Mona Bush Wendell Calkins Linda Carlson Jay Cates Ken Cavallero Mari Chambers Kent Chapin Don Chapman Steve Clark Arlene Clyde Sean Cochran Doug Collins Dale Cook Ken Cooke Chris Cordes Jenny Cove Debbie Cox Michael Cramer Lydia Crawford Gwen Crosswhite Donna Crouch Kelly Currier Frank Damiano Liz Davis Tom Davis Clay Dawson Brent Dehlbom Dan Deshon Ethan Dexter Robin Dickison Donna Doty Kim Drafall Wanda Driggs Glenn Drowns Jerry Dull Jona Dull Kim Dunkleberger Paegon Dunn Christopher Easton Barbie Eich Glenna Eich Jeff Eich Debbie Eidson Tammy Evans Connie Farley Tim Farmin Tammy Finney Carl Fister Dan Fister Garry Forell 164 165 Suzy Forell Kenny Fournier Robin Fournier Roy Fulton Jim Gage Danette Geenan Ken Gilchrist Debbie Girtman Ron Goodsell Mark Graham Julie Gutenberger Margaret Gwinn Tina Hamacher Denise Hamann Linda Harrison Penny Hawkins Carmel Hawn John Hayes Beverly Haynes Beth Hendrickson Julie Hill Dale Hohisal Nancy Holm Rosalind Hull Elya Huls Mike Jenni Tom Jenson Aixa Johnson Ann Johnson Kenny Kernodle Jeff Kibler Brett Kirking Tammy Kirkpatrick Randy Kluver Ray Kopcke Kurt Kopsa Dave Kost Troy Kuehl Patti Lafever Kim Lebel Rocky Lee Dan Lewis Bob Lichty Roy Long Juli Madsen Lorna Martin Lori McAvoy Kathy McCanlies Terri McCormich Lori Mclnelly Janice McNall Russell McNearney Jeri Meneely Bob Merrill Brian Millin Scott Moline Matt Monroe David Morley Jerry Mott John Mundell Bob Newcomb Brenda Newman Larry Noort Lisa Olson Kelly O'Donnell Sheldon Packwood Paula Palmen Zale Palmer Jody Paris Jackie Parker Dena Payne Mike Perry Cindy Peterson Marty Peterson Teresa Piatt Susy Pierce 167 Mark Pitts Maria Poelstra Dan Porath Susan Pritchett Georgia Ramsey Dean Raper Don Rasor Patti Raynor Jim Reasor Dale Reed Susan Remson Rusty Rice Chuck Rindal Andy Roberts John Robinson Larry Robinson Charlotte Rohrick Arlene Rohrick Becky Rud Kenny Ruyle Steve Sakofsky David Sass Steve Seppala Ron Shackleford Butch Short Dorla ShrefFer Naomi Shreffler Kerry Sisler David Sisson Jeff Sleep Kelly Smith Rob Smith Steve Smith Tom Snipes Tammy Spade Anne Spradlin Bonnie Starkey Doug Stevens Linda Stevens Chris Sundquist Pat Sylvester Tim Taylor Roy Teller Bonnie Thomas Kelly Thompson Laurie Tibbs Connie Tillberg Tim Townsend Jane Travers Rob Vandenberg Greg VandergrifF Dave Vig Cherie Vincent Lorraine Walson Kathy Watkins Jani Watt JefF Wescott David Wigton Ron Winget Craig Wooden Shelly Wyborny Carrie Wyers Lea Yount 168 169 Class of ’80 With more than 300 students, the class of '80, largest ever to walk the halls of S.H.S., anticipated no problem making money. Carameled apple sales and an aluminum can drive marked fall activities. Other projects the group took on were the planning of a spring donation drive and dance. We have over a $100 now, said Kathy Abromeit, class president, in November, but we want a lot more by the end of the year. In addition to President Abromeit, officers Jim Brisboy and Rhonda Bradetich led the sophomores in pep assembly yell contests. All sophomores also took the A.S.V.A.B. to test their vocational abilities. According to Tom Dryden, adviser, They are an active and ambitious group, and they get things done. 171 Kathy Abromeit Ron Adams Susan Addington Betsy Agar David Ager Tracie Albertson Mark Alton Kenneth Andrews Dan Baker Eric Balch Frank Baldwin Cathy Bandy Jay Barksdale Scott Barksdale Patti Barnes Terry Beaty Dana Bigalow Janet Bill Tammie Blanset Todd Blakney Danny Boles John Bowe D.
