The theme was Until the Twelfth of Never, and the Senior girls said they had never had a more wonderful time. The Senior men turned out in a record number. W We Were Here The Seniors are truly grateful to our advisers--Mr. Benson, Mrs. Sodorff, and Mr. Anderson--the Sweethearts of the Senior Class. ...i. Rising through the ranks of grade school and junior high, the class of 1965 embarked upon a journey leading to three of the most impressive and happy years of our lives. On August 29, 1962, WE, the largest entering class in SHS history, first stormed the halls of Sandpoint Senior High School. During our sophomore year the first signs of inde- pendence were cultivated. We were given the opportunity to choose our curriculums and to participate in the ac- tivities just right for us. With self-consciousness and trepidation, we joined in the activities of Hello Week. With the first vestiges of pride in acting as a class, we Mice presented the Cats Qjuniorsj and the Bulldogs fseniorsj with catnip and a large bone as tokens of our appreciation for the friendly welcome to high school. As model juniors we razzed the incoming sophomores as we had been razzed. Thoughts of the uncertainty of the future began to plague us as we were introduced to the national tests--PSAT, ITED, National Merit, National Math, and College Boards. Gaining more pride in ourselves as a class, we chose our class rings and worked to earn money for the coming year. With thoughts of Our senior year at last! we began our final hectic leg of the journey. Struggling to overcome Senioritis we labored on the requisites for graduation. Our Senior Ball, Until the Twelfth of Never, was a memorable success. We sold tickets for a trip to Hawaii to earn money for our major class project. We pre- sented the play Women in White, a murder mystery. Overcome by sentimentality and gratefulness, we sang the Alma Mater with tears in our eyes. As we embark upon a new journey, we hope that the halls of SHS will always remember, as we will, the years that WE WERE HERE. Bulldogs Maintain Winning Spirit Our coaches encourage the winning spirit of the Sandpoint Bulldogs. Jerry Partridge, JV coachg Francis McDonnell, head football coach, Bob Hamilton, JV coach and statisticiang Pat Kaufman, head basketball coach. Bulldogs Coach Francis McDonnell's hard-hitting Bulldogs started off the football season with a respectable 13-6 win over Moscow and a decisive 28-13 victory against University High. A September loss to Pullman was Sandpoint's first defeat of the season, however, this did not hurt the Bulldogs too much as it was a non- conference game. The Bulldogs were victorious in the next two games as Sandpoint High's gridders trounced the Bonners Ferry Badgers 40-6, and in a tough, ex- citing battle they whipped the previously undefeated Clarkston 20-12. With the passing arm of Gary Elliot and the running talents of Smokey Chubb and Paul Munson, the Bulldogs toppled the strong Coeur d' Alene Vikings in the cold, rainy October game, but the following contest with the Lewiston Bengals spelled FIRST ROW: Doug Pennington, Dale Oestmann, Bill Kennedy, Smokey Chubb, Bob Geenan, Craig Thompson, Jim Baldwin, Mark Hawkins, Harmon Cantrell, Mike Rainey, Paul Munson, Steve Strecker, Mike Brown, Jim Miller, Bob Yager. THIRD ROW: Robert Ramsay, Chuck Sandpoint's first league defeat. The 19-14 loss put the Bengals up with the Bulldogs in leading the Inland Empire League. After a loss to the Kellogg Miners, the Idaho Panhandle League championship was tossed into a three-way tie with Sandpoint, Coeur d' Alene, and Wallace sharing the top honors. Sandpoint and Lewiston also finished up with a tie for first in the Inland Empire League. The last game of the season was a non-conference contest with Libby, this the Bulldogs took easily. Mike Brown set a Sandpoint record in that game: he was the only Bulldog to score three touchdowns in a single game. He was also high point man for the season followed closely by Smokey Chubb and Paul Munson.
