By the time we had learned that we should use the north stairs going up and the south stairs coming down, it was election day. Officers chosen were: Jim Nelson, President Ann Roberts, Vice-president, Margery Pederson, Secretary-treasurer. In September We gave ourselves a party.' The seniors didn't get to initiate so consequently refused to sponsor a frosh-senior party. In the spring we had a picnic at the city park. Our nominee for Leohono Carnival Queen was Betty Lou James. The following term our Sophomore year, the outstanding additions to our edu- cation had been that we should keep off the grass and avoid tracking on the gym floor. We gave our first Monticola fund dance in September, 1942, for the pur- pose of collecting money to be used in our senior year for the publication of our annual. The officers that year were: Bob Congdon, Presidentg Ruth Pearce, Vice- presidentg Julie Zahlan, Secretary-treasurer. There were seven from our class who joined the Leohono Society. Then we were upperclassmen, the honor we heard about since we started high school. We gave a Junior Play, nNot Quite Such a Goosen. Instead of frightening the frosh with initiation, we welcomed them with a very successful party. we gave an assembly to get the freshmen acquainted with the student body. ' Seniors are active everywhere in the school, in clubs and crginizations, in music, in athletics and in anyway they can be helpful to the student body. The class thanked Mrs.'Hupp, the faculty advisor, for being patient with us, and for helping us to become acquainted with the customs and traditions of our high school. With the passing of our first year, went our Greenness , but not the memory of many good times. During our sophomore year, under the supervision of Mrs. Crowley, we gave an assembly, and a May Day Ball. After the sen- iors had stopped chasing us around they gave us a 'kidn party at which we played games and ate hoky-pokys. - Our first meeting, at which our advisor, Mrs. Hupp, had much trouble keeping us quiet, we elected Bill McGinnis, Presidentg Richard Gray, Viceepresidentg Lila Blair, Secretary, and Colleen Ebbe, Treasurer. Dues were ten cents a semester. ' On December l, we held an assembly, which was made up of'the best of 'corn'. The proceeds amounted to Sl2.72, which laid the foundation for our Monticola Fund. A party was held during the later part of the second semester to welcome the won- derful feeling of being Freshies no longer.
