BAND Officers of the band for the present year were elected at the final meeting of the ba d last year They are as follows president Elll Smith , vice pres1dent Sally McKenzie , secre tary treasurer harilou Smith Four librarlans were also ap polnted They are senior Sidnev Keister, Jurior Joanne Tick nor, sophomore Iary Lou Mmson , freshman Tommy Dear Na tin The duty of the librarians is to keep the music ir the library 1U order and to tale care of the music when we leave for a vis lting corcert At the bealnolng of this school year we re grouped ourselves and resolved to be a better band than belore he learned to march after a few days and u1Oc+ober 29, we marched ln the San deval Halloween Parade The majorettes led and direct d us through three marches Then in two weeks we oar ic pated 1U a tri county band fes tival at Nashville Fozr schools took part in tele event They are Nashville , Carlyle , Ashley , and sandoval Toe combined bands gave concerts at each of tre four sclools in the order they were named These corcerts are given on a Saturday Even ing after an afternoon of rehearsal Each conduct r had his own group of numbers, and a solo was glxen oy each school After the tri county band was Ield ln Carlyle ur band gave a Christmas Concert on Detem er ll whlch consisted of popular, march, and classical music The hand has played at everv bask tball home game Iarches time c Next the band wlll concentrate on solo and n emole vork for the music contest Thls will help dfte1mine our weak nd strong polnts After corpleting a spring concert, Je will be able to look back on a busy , but suc essfll ,ear le seniors hope that the band continues to prosper and thmslt will always be a success ful as it was this year GIRLS CHOQJS Due to a shorta e o male voices we have had only g1rl's chorus this year composed of forty four voices urder the dlrec tion of Hr Lester T Davis The offleers elected are as follows president S lly 'cKen zle, vice president Barbara Manhart, secrets y HJ treasurer Leanna Breithaupt r o rter Marilo Sm'th Our first semester a pcarar e w s o Chrdstmas Cantata given Sunday Afternoon, December 24th at 2 30 The chorus hopes to enter in the ortest tris year as we did so well at Hillsboro 1U the district contest last fear Both 32 U . 3 . .... 3' , ' ..
