The first year of publication. the Sandian had been awarded honors as a first class paper. and staff members had walked off with six awards in writing at the New Mexico High School Press Association convention in Las Vegas. Highlights for this years staff included attendance at the NMHSPA Apr. 8-9 and a publications banquet in May. Announce' ment of awards and honors came at the banquet, but they were actually presented before the student body at the Awards As- sembly May 19. They' sold candy as a Christmas money-making project.
