TWIRP fThe Woman Is Requested to Payj Week brought some mighty strange happenings to Sandia as the girls chased the boys for a change. Out of my wayg he's my man! might have been heard throughout the halls as each girl spotted the boy she wanted and took out after him. Highligh- ting the week were Dog-Patch Day, the TWIRP as- sembly, and the Spinster's Spree. Vern Martinez was crowned king by Scarlet and Blue Queen Pat Carbone during the assembly. Knights Don Rodgers and Gary Easton were 'named by Scarlet and Blue Prin- cesses Kay Rice and Carol Miner. On Dog-Patch Day all girls dressed in outfits simi- lar to those in the Li'l Abner comic strip by Al Capp. The Spinster's Spree, sponsored by the Pep Club, climaxed the TWIRP Week festivities. King Vern dances with Queen at. Royalty and their women watch the birdie during the Spree. Newly crowned King Vern watches as his Knights are named. Loving couples are pronounced man and wife by Dave Adams at the Spree. Mary Powers, Sandy Knox and Sally Campbell sing at the assembly.
