The students in Marching, Band brought recog- nition to 'Sandia High by capturing this honor. However, the word band covered more than just Marching Band at SHS. There was also the Concert Band, Orchestra, Dance Band and Cadet Band-all under the direction of Mr. Ted Rush. There are a few long-remembered experiences in everything, and Band was no exception. Mem- bers will recall memories of the 7:30 marching drills on a sometimes-muddy or frozen fieldg the half-time shows done in blue jeans and white shirts because uniforms were not availableg the excitement and tired feet which were a part of each paradeg the long looked-forward-to Farm- ington trip and the fruit cakes sold to make the trip possible, and finally the months spent in pre- paration for one night of glory during the con- cert season.
