Taking ap- proximately a year to build, Sandia opened its doors in 1958 with 1800 students. Already the second largest school in the state, Sandia expects 600 more students next year. Although under great disadvantages, typical of the opening of any large school, Sandia Produced many outstanding students, academically and activity-wise. Dry, barren wasteland. This was the site picked tor our new schoolg . . . -- rand, Slvwly, if began to rise- The Windowless walls began to take on shape, .a . . . . and our long, long, corridors got their beginning. with many a problem . ..

Playing an important part in the lives of the students are the counselors, attendance workers, the nurse and the librarian. Working hard at each of their separate jobs, these people help run our school. Along with other city schools, state schools and schools across the nation, graduation requirements were raised. It's the school's aim to graduate better qualified students. Sen- iors completed school this year With a required minimum of 16 credits while the sophomores will find it necessary to acquire at least 20 credits. Late? I only checked it out yesterday.
