Taking ap- proximately a year to build, Sandia opened its doors in 1958 with 1800 students. Already the second largest school in the state, Sandia expects 600 more students next year. Although under great disadvantages, typical of the opening of any large school, Sandia Produced many outstanding students, academically and activity-wise. Dry, barren wasteland. Playing an important part in the lives of the students are the counselors, attendance workers, the nurse and the librarian. Working hard at each of their separate jobs, these people help run our school. Along with other city schools, state schools and schools across the nation, graduation requirements were raised. It's the school's aim to graduate better qualified students.
