As we are still young, growing people, we tend to think of our three years in high school as a prelude to something more mean- ingful and fulfilling. We all plan for, and look to, that day when each of us can begin to live a life of our own. But for some students, life ends here at Sanderson. We share more with each other than hallways and classrooms. We all see our dreams on clouds and make wishes to stars. We all feel warmth in the love of a friend and the touch of a hand. We know the same fears and the same joys. . . . Those students who have died shared these things too. Too often we accept life with a casual indif- ference, we act almost unaware of being alive. It is only the ending of life that reminds us of its uncertainties. Learning of the the death of another student is a jarring experience, whether that person was a close friend or only a vaguely remembered face in a crowd. Our loss is none the less. We learn more from each other than from any textbook or lesson. If the year's tragedies can teach us something, then let them make us aware that we are indeed alive, together, in this school, for this moment. 240

Norman Bennett: Seniors are at the height of intelligence com- bined with laziness. Karen Crawford: I have wasted the time I spent at Sanderson. Sanderson has a lot to offer e such as teachers who will listen, Burch Wrenn helpful courses and a library filled with books. However, these resources will not be forced on youg you have to want them. Michael Hall: If you don,t have an education you don't have any- thing. Chug Latham: Seniors are some- thing that sophomores and juniors wish the were and when they are they wis they werenlt.
