Miss Bryant It was a good idea to have displays and exhibitions in the Crabtree Valley Mall during American Education Week so the people of Raleigh could see that the students are doing other things than skipping class and smoking dope. Even the polar bears froze! Marta Spain Vite music we sang somehow made me feel _ more important and it was an experience I will remember for a long time. David Doughton J really didn’t feel any different being directed by a famous composer like Randall Thompson because he was just a person who had deep and sincere feelings like a lot of people do. Patti Denkins “There is an enormous amount of talent in the Sanderson Band and Orchestra. However, very few people at this school realize what a fine department we have. Dawn Colwell Hive Crucible was well executed and carried out. Allison Northcutt The Crucible, incorporating the talent and technology of this school, was an immense SUCCESS. Patricia McHugh lie Crucible was the best dramatic production Sanderson has ever had and probably ever will. Chuck Rogers As a member of the cast, I want to say that we worked hard and were very pleased with the outcome of the play. Sarah Baggett ‘i 30 Black is not beautiful, white is not beautiful. People are beautiful! Why celebrate Black History Week, we could have a Brotherhood Week. Cathy McKeller I think it was much better than last year. Last year it seemed more like it was a rebellion. Sonya Byrd | I enjoyed Black History Week because it let you know that the Black man has made progress for people and his country and that a Black man 1s more than a slave, that he is a person with thoughts and _ ideas. My only complaint is that they need to give their concerts more often. Becky Elleman On the whole the spring concert was good. Jim Suchy i enjoyed the game a lot. I apologize for tackling Mark Williams. Mr. Stroup The game brought the ' 7? nf teachers and students moc =Facu! closer together because we got to know them as friends. Toni Gournas ‘ 4 mM Sub R ‘ nd gua 3S hy gis oe o aii 4 Fe it had no problem seeing things “eye-to-eye” with my date. Debbie VanHouten I really enjoyed the Prom. I wish we could have more than one. Jennifer Davis elite socializing part of the Prom was terrific, but I think the band could have been a little better. Chure Bennett Te was fun getting dressed up (since it’s only once a year) and seeing all the guys spruced up. My date looked really handsome! Toni Gournas I never realized how many beautiful and desirable young ladies could attend one school. Wade Williams I thought it was really en a great to see people dressed ge up, probably for the first time ever, and show concern for the pride of Sanderson. Jay Jones “Piss prom was a memorable experience. Toni Gournas I thought the Variety Show was too short, but what there was was very good. Burt Mori I liked all the acts in the Variety Show, but the people who created their own music are really talented. I never knew Sanderson had so many talented people. I enjoyed the Martial Arts section of the show because it was different from everything else. Mark Evans I enjoyed the Variety ¢ Show but I think it Me needed more variety. Sheri Rooth ee Harvey was my first attempt at directing a play and it couldn’t have been done better without the help from students and faculty. I 1 Oy think that for the first time in four years, the Drama Club has gotten a good reputation. Chuck Rogers Wks nothing like being a full-figured girl. I wouldn’t have missed meeting Harvey for the world. Karen Hinkley I thought PTA Night was a good way to introduce the parents to the school system and to communicated with the teachers. PTA Night should be held more often since it was very successful. Bob Rankin Tse eee Be sp Great food! The Hi-C could have been a little bit more fermented. Melanie Jones Le was truly a vztory banquet! Deutschland Uber Alles! Becky Elleman At the French Banquet the gingerale was ex- cellent-a good vintage of 1974. Beverly Haslip The best part of the Latin Banquet was being able to walk without tripping over my toga in my barefeet. Patricia Tierney French food is good because they cook it in wine sauce. Jerry Eatman a, es was am besten! Allen Jerigan 49 W hen you get it all to- gether like the Germans, how can you lose? Robert Hayes Abi: Spanish Club was having too much fun to win! Mary Kay Shore Mss. Jenkins takes the Olympics so dead serious and puts so much time and effort into them that we had to win! Steve O'Neill Our dub didn’t win because 95% of the kids participating were sophomore girls. Nancy Welby 51 Art Depar inc erson presents th ae ae Ra and Mable did a great job organizing the Thing while still staying sane (or rela- tively so). The live music of course added alot to it. Rod Meth The participation of students and faculty was outstanding. It is a really good way to get SHS art out to the people of Raleigh. Catherine Rice 53 Y ou reacon everybody was ruint? Bobby Bardin It was great to talk to everyone before the big day. It was exciting, especially the streaking motorcyclist. Crystal Schulze I never Saw so many soaked Seniors at one time. Debbie Van Houten | only cooked 217 ham- burgers! (and that’s the truth!) Richard Griffiths I was a chance for people to be informal and laugh at each other. That was really great! I really don’t know whether to feel happy or sad. I’m glad to be out of school but I feel like I’m leaving so much behind. I’m so glad that our par- ents had so much interest and concern to make sure that our graduation night was something we would never forget as long as we live. Debbie Moye I alw ays thought that graduation was going to be the grandest night of my life. I mean, after 12 years of school you sort of expect a fanfare of trumpets and lightening bolts to mark the end of it all. The only thing I felt was srosenteOmiotion Beth Pennington 61 W ith that simple gesture another dream becomes a fact and in that same moment it becomes history. From dream to reality to only memory (without roar or blood or death of anything we can quite identify-without more than perhaps the slightest sting of . . . joy? regret? fear? relief?). In a flash what we have dreamed of and seen as the mysterious future becomes all too palpable as we hold it in our hand and wonder if that can possibly be all. We are thrust from those rooms where some of us flourished and some tragically died and most of us were simply listed among the survivors— just as our dreams have flourished: or merely survived or more pathetically than tragically died. But this is commencement and, after all, that’s the best thing that can be said for it. We’re still only STE eenecereneneenes beginning; we’re still young. C, the fans and atmosphere sometimes overwhelm you with their spirit. Tom Kearns The Holiday Tournament was probably the turning point of the season. Greg Small 4 iJ Swe - 45 Ah % Ik gives me something to do after school. It’s a lot of fun, whether you get to play or not. Willard Buffkin This year we really found out what the word ‘team’ meant. We had to depend on each other and work together if we expected to come out on top. Tim Sullivan I learned alot from Coach Harrington in the two years I played for Sanderson. A lot of the things I learned will help me in the future. I’m just glad I played because it was a blast! Willard Buffkin I think the team had real good material, but we never seemed to put it together. William Boyette 79 BASKETBALL At basketball practice regretted it. Believe [ve learned a lot in we played around on and me, I heard some jokes the past three years of off the court..Sometimes that Hugh Hefner playing basketball. Jerald Hinton Our team was much better than our record indicated. Most of the games we lost because of little mistakes in the last quarter. John Kauffman BS: overall strength of our team from top to bottom was the unique thing about our team. We had good wrestlers in both our lighter and heavier weight classes. This was proven by the number of Sanderson wrestlers in the tournament. Allen Simms alos a bunch of misfit wierdos like our team could wrestle at all astounds me, but when they go to a match, they turn into real pros.
