We else wanted. best one in the first place We had to stay late then to get the officers chose J M Harrell got to be president because we all liked him, Monte Goode got to be vice-president because he's the biggest, Doris McSparran was chosen for secretary because she's beautiful, and Mary Allen got reporter for some reason I don't know We wound up the meeting with class dues whoever heard of paying to be in a class? Dear Diary. September 26, 1942 Is life tough' hvery body picks on us all the time We don't get a bit of peace--someone's always yelling, 'For goodness sakes, sit up,' 'Pick up your clumsy feet,' nSay, 'lhank you' once in a while,' 'Look where you're goin',' 'Stick your shirt tail in ' bee' It sure is tough' Dear Diary May 13 1943 This has been ouite a year Mrs Kerr was our room mother, and guess what she did? To begin with, she gave us a tea She gave the class a swell Christmas party, theater party, too We may be dumb Freshmen, but we sure get around There was also a party at ludgy Talbots This high school life is really swell and next year is going to be better than ever Sophomore Dear Diary September 6, 1943 This morning 23 of us Sonh o mores, 11 boys and 12 girls, walked in at fledged classmen In fact, we consider ourselves in the same category with the Seniors The poor Freshmen, green with envy, fairly penetrated us with their cold stares, and foolish questions How very unimportant they must feel Oh, well, in time they will perhaps overcome their ludicrous mistakes Dear Diary September 9, 1943 we d1dn't procrastinate about electing officers this evening Profit ing materially from the previous year, we launched an early campaign that we might have no difficulty in the retention of our sponsor It is most exhilarating to us to feel that our very first meeting culminated into a profitable hour for us Of course, we hesitated to call a meeting without permission, but we are positive that our judgement will be respected and our meeting will be authentically recognized in the morning After due consideration, we decided upon Don Frazor for presi dent How stupendously stunning he did look in front of the class, framed in a luxurious ensemble He is without doubt, the most intelli gent and well dressed person I have ever seen His brilliance is remark able Mary tllen is really a good dresser, wears her clothes very well, so we thought she would give us prestige as secretary Next, we just had to choose someone for reporter so we chose Dudley Harrison Doris Lee Cooke is our most illustrious vice president 2 9 the appointed hour for registration, then we asserted our rights as full Dear D1arV a 9 1 Our sponsor this year was Miss hinkler and she really has been swell Me really have had some tlmes Mrs Jessup was our room mother and she proved ouite sat1sfactory To be in with there was a party at Marjorie lessup's lhen there was an unforgettable sun rise breakfast, and lots of other things I forgot to write to you, Diary about lowards the end of the year there was a SW1mm1UO party at Iessup's Really, this Sonhomore year at Sanderson High School has been a wonderful year to remember Junior Dear Diary september 4 1044 e l 'm afraid l've Jo1ned the ChH1H gan thls winter You'd have thought Doris lee Cooke was the presldent of some huge labor organl zatlon the way she outlined the earning capacity of the lunlors only 15 boys and 8 girls She rolled up her sleeves and orated 'hvery one of you will be drafted there are no exemptlons You w1l1 be delegated this duty and that duty 5EPik1Hg sh1rk1n and comnlalnin w1ll not be tolerated You might just as well get those muscles toned up if you her with some strong backin I think she meant strong backs' so we made J H Harrell vice president, Helen Holmes secretary, and Mary Xllen reasurer 11 with energy 'plus Mrs Hasty was elected sponsor and were we ever lucky' Dear Diary May 6 1 45 What a wonderful year this has been' we worked like slaves, but did we have fun' Our Junior Play was 'and Let who will ie Clever' and was it clever' quite a success with a cast of seven boys and eight girls e made way over a hundred dollars on t and I do believe, Diary we gave the best Junior Senior lanauet that has ever been given he had a theme of the old South, and both the Sannuet Hall and the Masonic Hall where we had the dance was decorated so beautlfully it just made you g y to look at it There was a picnic right there in September wlth a dance and party afterwards at Clyde ur1ff1th's all us boys were learnln t dance this year some of us did ouite a good job of it too I th11k Oh, and there was the Sadie Hawklns party, the Christmas dance for the high school, and our own special Jun1or Christmas party There was a lexas PIOHQQF Dance on March 2, and another in our series of dances on the wednesday before raster Mrs ooode was our room mother and we had some swell parties at her house, especially after the Junior Play Th1s Junior year was a lot of work as well as fun but one consolatlon is next year we will be seniors Senior Dear Diary September 4 l94a Today 13 boys and 9 girls were crowned Seniors, with the Preshies bowing to us, the Sophomores adoring us, the Juniors laboring for us, and the faculty favoring us.
