Back in the '30's he came to SSHS as vocal music director, Now as principal, he has a greater lead in directing SSIIS activities in all the fields and departments which continuously hring fame and reward to the schools and to the Sand Springs community. ' - i , y- - !,,i,:,. L' , ,:1:,:,,1 Ifor nearly a quarter of a century, Clyde Boyil, Superintendent of Schools, has played a leading role in directing the Sandite Story. Coming here as athletic director in 1932, Pop Boyd was also high school prin- cipal before taking over the superintendent's office in 1939. Under his leadership the story of SSHS has been heard near and far where- ever outstanding schools, and school activities are discussed. ' ' 's,.s A f ' '.'ff'Cf.: ' , 4.- I-' ,C .. Back of any story are the publishers who make it possible for the manuscript to get into print. And there are no finer upub- lishersl' in the business than that group of outstanding civic minded men who give freely of their time and energy in directing a better edition each year, the Sand Springs Board of Education. To them, a salute for the planning, backing and far- sightedness which make the Sandite Storyi' possible. J. Coach Harold Wickersham's 2 ' injury-riddled Mighty Mites also pulled one of the big- gest upsets in Sandite history when they overthrew the heavily favored Ironmen from Nowata October 7, 6-2. The Sandites also, to make a good season better, won their , , QL. Q , homecoming game with the Cleveland Tigers, 30-12. W l Coming from an underdog position, as usual, the S-men defeated a favored Webster team, 28-12, and made a farce RICHARD LUCE r of a supposedly close game with Okmulgee.
