Sand Fork basketball fans enjoyed an outstanding season during the winter of 1955-6. with Coach Alton Peters' Lions winning the Little Kanawha Conference and Central Conference championships and advancing to the final game in Region II-B tournament play in Clarksburg's Carmichael Auditorium. there to fall at the hands of the state champion Barrackville Bisons. A well-balanced attack. which featured outstanding play by several members of the twelve-man squad, received wide-spread acclaim by the state's sports writers. Co-captains Buddie Minner and Melvin Edwards received all-state honorable mention and were named to the of- ficial L-K Conference team, and the two of them with their teammate.
