We believe that the experiences gained while in high school both scholastic and extracurricular will make some of the longest last- ing impressions on our lives. With this in mind, it is our hope you will enjoy these moments as much in 2066 as you do in 1966. V -- ' innnui 3 ? Truly one of the finest leaders, he has never failed to help us in time of need. He has helped shape our future by giving us encouragement, hope, and spirit in all that we have done or attempted to do. With deep appreciation, we dedicate the 1966 Harvester to Mr. Kenneth Mitchell. BECAUSE YOU ARE In every school there is a teacher who •not only teaches, but goes far beyond the academic life. In our school this special person is Mr. Richard Butler, man extra- ordinaire. He has helped us obtain a better under- standing of ourselves and other people so that in the future we may be able to meet obstacles in life with less difficulty. Although busily engaged in many activ- ities, he is always willing to set them aside and give needed help and advice. By so doing he has earned the respect, cooperation and friendship of all students. OUR SPECIAL FRIENDS A D M I N I S T R A T I O N Donald Harlan, Earl DeLano, Richard Williams, Harold Willett, Richard Bailey, Vernon McMunn, Theodore Clement, Calvin Scharer. SCHOOL BOARD LINKS COMMUNITY WITH EDUCATION Forming the vital link between the community and the school, our school board has done a marvelous job of keeping the citizens of the community well informed. We owe our sincere thanks to these men who devote so much of their time and energy to improving our school. DONALD HARLAN Superintendent After many years in the Sand Creek school system, this year Mr. Harlan became the school superintendent. His concern for the students of Sand Creek and his willingness to de- vote his time to solving the problems of the school have earned the respect of all who know him. We of the senior class wish to thank Mr. Harlan for all he has done for the Sand Creek community. Betz In order to have a more efficient Student Council, a completely new method of choosing officers was used this year. Juniors and seniors were nominated by the student body and the students given the most votes were chosen as candidates for the various offices. Each candidate chose a campaign manager who took charge of posters and speeches which were given at assemblies on election day. The en- tire school voted by ballot for the candidates of their choice. The rest of the Council was composed of two representatives from each class, seven through twelve, and two advisors. Nervous but victorious, that was Deanna. For many years it was the practice to elect a girl from grades 9-12 as candidate for queen. This year, however, the Student Council de- cided to change all this. There was some disagreement between the conservative and the liberal students, but the Student Council ' s decision finally prevailed. Follow- ing the new plan, grades 9-11 each nominated a giii to serve on the court and grade 12 chose four girls for queen candidates. The entire student body voted for these can- didates on the day of the game. At night, amid the ex- citement of the crowd and candidates, the queen was crowned to reign over the festivities. 68 THE QUEEN AND HER COURT COURT: Nancy Anderson, Pam Newman, Linda Hillard, Barb Johnston, Frances Vance, Leonor Lopez QUEEN: Dawn Daniels FIRST PLACE JUNIOR CLASS Minutemen your time is up £ lis- SECOND PLACE SENIOR CLASS We ' ve got an Aggie in our tank THIRD PLACE FRESHMAN CLASS Dry the drips 69 COACH D.
