'HAI1VESTE l Cfadd ,Nia tory le, the class of 1949, began our history in September of 1945 We had a class of 38 members and as usual we were blamed for everything Our class officers were as follows President Tens Barber Vice President Robert Campbell Secretary Vonda Hagadorn Treasurer Jack Gogolin Advisor -I Smith The foremost event of our Freshmen year was initiation, after which we became members of S C H S Next we were Sophomores with a class of 35 members Not being blamed for everything this year we were ableto initiate the Freshmen Our class officers were as follows President -Ben Bailey Vice President -Jack Gogolin Secretary -Joan Allen Treasurer Lee Blood As Juniors we planned our most important event, the Junior Senior Banquet This year our class had 22 members Our class officers were as follows President Joan Allen Vice President -Betty Jones Secretary -Joyce Ferry Treasurer Vonda Bagadorn Advisor Mrs McGregor Now we are Seniors with 18 members Our most important events were the Junior Senior Banquet, May Dance, and Gradua tion Our class officers are as follows President Vonda Hsgadorn Vice President Dorothy Zander Secretary Phylliss Myers Treasurer -Gloria Edwards Advisors Miss Beck, Mr Lstchaw I A I O s 2 -..-----...---..-..------., ------..------..,--------..- ' I O l I o 2 Advi sor---------Q--.-.Q-..----..-.Mi 53 Beck e I -.....,-------N.-------...- . 'HARVESTER' now, we shall do all we can to repay the many sacrifices you have made for us, and shall endeavor to prove worthy of your trust Schoolmates, we say farewell with the hope that you may carry on loyally and diligently Do your best, both for yourselves and for the glory of our school Fellow classmates, let us resolve anew to go foz'th bravely and so live that we may be proud of each other and that Sand Creek High School may be proud of all of us Let us be patriotic The young people of today hold in their hands the future of our country The world needs citizens who live up to the golden rule seven days in the week, who lift a helping hand to the other fellow Let us pay our debt to our school by years of Christian living So, in behalf of the Class of '49 I bid everyone farewell Sala fa tory Parents, teachers, members of the school board, and friends Tonight it is my privilege to welcome you to the Commencement Exercises of the Class of 1949, and to thank you for the wonderful opportunity you have given us to start life in the proper way Success is never half so wonderful as when it is shared with us because without your help we would never have attained it Graduating from high school is only one of the most important achievements in a persons life To stop here would be undoing all the things we have been working for in the last twelve years We must go on to higher fields of life and greater achievements' ere are eighteen students in this class, each one, individually talented and planning seperate paths for the future Each one of us should look within ourselves for our special interests and capacities and then survey the world of work for opportunities to fulfill them Have you ever realized there is a history and a promise to everything that happens? The history of this Commence ment night may well be our high school education and the promise success, and happiness for everyone of us So again, speaking for the class of '49 I bid each of you welcome Vonda Hagadorn with our friends. Wulf n ed tament State of Michigan County of Lenawee Town of Sand Creek We, the scatterbrained class of nineteen hundred and forty nine of Sand Creek High School being in a state of un sound elation Cwhich will end when we receive blank diplomas? do hereby make and proclaim our last will and testament le,having assed through Kgathering sprinkles of knowl edge on the way this stage of our education, wish to dis pose of our assets rights and privileges Cwhich we begged, borrowed and stoles in the following way ARTICLE I Section l To the faculty we leave our gratitude for untiring guidance of our little 'flames of hope' in the right direction, also our sympathy for their lonesomeness for the shining examples we have undoubtedly been ARTICLE II ability to act dignified in the most embarrassing s1tuatia1s such as a fallen stage during the Senior Play Section 2 To the bright and shining Sophomores we leave our luck, if there is any left, after we skip school for the last time without being caught Section 5 To the Freshmen we leave the undying hope which we found necessary to attain the untouchable status of a Senior We also leave them our cunning manner which we used to chew gum in class, pass notes in Study Hall, eat whenever hunger struck us, and find out more about the teach- ers than they thought we could ARTICLE III Section l To the Board of Education we leave our appreciation for making our unhappy years in school possible Section 2 To the student body as a whole we leave the Siren to be published, Athletic honors to be achieved, the resou ding joy we feel upon hearing the toll of the nine o'clock bell each school day'and, last but not least,the com plete exaltation we feel as the bell rings at 3 45, dimmis sing us fr m a joyous day Any other Will or Testament made by us is declared void upon the publication of this, our last one In witness whereof we, the Senior Class, do set our quill and berry juice to this Will on this historic twenty sixth day of May, nineteen hundred and forty nine SEN OR CLASS I A xjv.
