R V E S T ClT'C:CDUf7Cl Our school organized a ar Council again this year and the members elected by the classes are Freshmen Ruth Wilt Sophomores Glenn Shoemaker Juniors Bob Goodyear We elected Mr Downer to advise us again this year but he enlisted in the Navy Air Corps and was called during the middle of the year Miss Vallad then took his place and is keeping things working nicely We are selling war stamps again this year We made our goal, a jeep, which costs around 8900, and including the amount sold last year, we are proud to say we will surpass this mark by quite a large sum The records for an average month, January 1943, are First Grade ill Seventh Grade 619 Second Grade Eighth Grade Third Grade Ninth Grade Fourth Grade Tenth Grade Fifth Grade Eleventh Grade Sixth Grade Twelfth Grade 4 for a total of C244 65 W have put boxes in the halls to collect books and other reading material for our boys in the service and everyone has cooperated in filling them a meeting in January, the Junior Red Cross and the War Council agreed to work together Y. 25 F H A R'V E S T E R First Row, Left to Right Bob Goodyear, Arden Cole, Lynn Anderson, Howard Hinsdale, Ray Case Second Row Mr Strayer, Ray Hillard Ace Goglin, Jerry Buroh,Gerald Righter, Dale Pelham Kaafetdaff Mr Strayer is our coach tlis year because Mr Phillips has been inducted into the army Mr Strayer has done a fine job of coaching, and I think that the other boys will agree Lynn Anderson, a senior this year, will be high scoring man for the school He plays forward and plays it well From his pOSlt1OH he gets many set shots Ra ond Hillard lays forward and sometimes guard, when needed is Gerald Durch is also a forward and he pl ys with Lynn or Raymond or can pinch hit for center He is also a Junior Howard Hinsdale, the tallest man on the team is our center He has done some fine playing throughout the season Ray Case also plays the center position He is not quite as tall as Howard but he is an active player Arden Cole plays the guard position He is a Junior this year, and will be here again next year Gerald Righter also plays guard hen he ets the ball he can put it in its place, even though he is short He 1S a Senior Robert Goodyear also plays guard He is a Junior and will be with us again next year The Sand Creek Aggies ale tied for second place with Deerfield, in the Lit tle Six League Our star player, lynn Anderson, scored 154 points during the season He is high scoring man for the county N im E . Bob Hayward is drum major, Phyllis Anne Val entine, Myrtle Clark, and Ruth ilt are majorettes Phyllis Anne and Myrtle have been majorettes Cbaton twirlersl for three years, but this is Ruth's first year.
