On the very day at her arrival, she received her first battle casualties, lO burn cases re- sulting when a land mine exploded under an amphibious tractor. From lO April through 29 April, SANCTUARY'S normal operating schedule provided medical supportalongthe coast at South Vietnam including the areas at Chu Lai, Phu Bai, Dong Ha and Da Nang. Un 29 April, SANCTUARY received orders to report to an area att Tam Ky to provide medical support tor Operation Beaver Cage, which was part at a larger operation named Union ll. She arrived on station l May and within two days received l3O casualties, of h u w om, approximately llO were Marines wounded in action.
