Their duties are to take care of all school matters such as hiring of teachers, ex- penditures and assist the superintendent whenever necessary. We saw the pets UPuffU and HTimU in our reading book. We also made a play-store. Several of us brought empty containers and priced each article. The money gave us practice in counting by tens and fives, we also started to count change. The post-office was our next venture. we visited the Sanborn Post Office. The post-master showed us the different stamps, the boxed and explained the process of distributing the mail both in town and in the country. We made a post office in school. Each of us had a mailbox and we each got to distribute the mail. Oscar Gacke drove the bus, while two mothers and our teacher went along. We saw many farm animals. It was fun to have a ride in Paul's big toy car. when we returned to school we made a farm in our room. Just before Valentine's Day we baked Valentine Cookies. Several children brought the butter, sugar, salt, eggs, flour and soda from home. We took turns mixing the batter and Miss Behrens helped us put them in the oven to bake. Our reading stories were about Dick, Jane, and Sally. Sally had a pet dog, kitten, duck, and rabbit. We liked to read about the funny family. A deli- cious meal was served after which the master of ceremonies, Mason Dixon, took over and introduced the parts of the program. Mr. Pickford gave out the football letters and girls basketball letters and immediatelv afterwards the football and girls basketball representatives gave a short speech. Mr. Bonthius handed out the basketball awards fol- lowed by a speech by the boys basketball represent- atlve. Bob Qrawford was master of cermonies and kegt things rolling. The guest speaker was Rev. Dean Williams who talked on our theme of hitching your wagon to a star. Laurel Ericson Lad Luann wagner gave short aleeches. Eileen Damman favored us with the piano solo HStardustH and Jean Hickey song Hihen You Mish Upon a Stern.
