r We, the members of the 1971 Armadillo Staff, dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Josephine Gray who has devoted nearly half her lifetime to the teaching profession. Mrs. Gray has given un- selfishly ofher time and energy toward the education of future generations. She has displayed willing cooperativeness in every phase of the teaching field. Mrs. Gray began her teaching career at the early age of nine- teen years at Spicewood, Texas. After her marriage and with the arrival of four lovely daughters, she temporarily postponed her teaching career. Because of the teacher shortage during World War II, Mrs. Gray resumed teaching at Cherokee. After a few years there, she moved to San Saba where she started in the junior High Department. Mrs. Gray's kind and L understanding nature kept her in this department for many years. She was definitely influential in fostering the desire of many students to complete their high school education. In 1967 Mrs. Gray moved into high school with the same understanding and consideration which had endeared her to her junior high students. She taught in the Junior and Senior English Department until her retirement this year. Retirement to Mrs. Gray doesn't mean a drift toward obspurity. It only means more time for her to spend with the organizations she supports, her church, and her family. She'll have more time to enjoy her hobbies, reading and cooking. Each of Mrs. Gray's former students say, Thank You! .
